Day 3960: What to do with that extra hour

Well, we gained an extra hour last night and while I usually lament this fall time change, this year I’m doing something new! I’m going to reframe my attitude by creating a list of all the things I might do with that extra hour.

  • Sleep
  • Spend more time on my daily blog.
  • Reread a beloved book.
  • Read one of the many books I’ve ordered because of people’s recommendations.
  • Catch up on late night talk show TV.
  • Watch more episodes of The Yorkshire Vet.
  • Write a new song.
  • Practice playing the ukulele.
  • Plan for a spring concert of my original tunes.
  • Start posting excerpts of my songs on TikTok as “The Singing Therapist.”
  • Give my swollen ankle a rest.
  • Ignore my swollen ankle and go for a walk.
  • Take our cat Joan out on her leash and let her walk me.
  • Listen to music.
  • Try to remember how to reset all the clocks that need resetting.
  • Try really hard to think of any good reason why we still do this yearly time change.
  • Arrange my images of the day in a more coherent order.

.

I could also research all the days on those two lists of November 5 holidays in 2023, but instead I’ll search for “what to do with that extra hour” on YouTube.

.

Okay, I think I’m well on my way of spending that extra hour.

Thanks to all who’ve chosen to spend their precious time reading this what-to-do-with-that-extra-hour blog post, including YOU!

Day 3272: Animals

Hello, fellow animals! I’m starting out today’s blog post with some quotes about animals.

As you can tell by my greeting above, I’m thinking of humans as animals today, but this animal still loves those quotes.

Here’s a poem I love about animals:

How many different animals can you find in today’s animal blog post?

In respect for National Barbie and Barney Backlash Day, I won’t include a song by that purple dinosaur. Instead, here’s a song by the Turtles

… and Sting’s “Language of Birds” (which Spotify tells me I listened to many times this year).

This animal is grateful for all animals, including YOU!

Day 2900: UP

Now that I’m UP, it’s UP to me to decide how I want to start UP today’s blog post.

Cases of COVID-19 are going UP, UP, UP.

People still haven’t given UP gathering inside and going maskless. It’s UPsetting how stUPid this is.

The number of failed lawsuits in trUmP’s attempts to foul UP the Presidential election is now UP to 50, at least.

Yesterday, I was informed that my stats here were going UP.

I am always UP for a walk, no matter the time or the weather, and yesterday I noticed that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is now standing UP…

… after being hung UP like this a few days ago:

Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, and Santa are now all UP for Christmas. Are you?

Yesterday, in my Coping and Healing group, people wanted to make UP a new name for themselves. I held UP this sign with a suggested name:

They were definitely UP for that reframe.

Now it’s time for me to put UP (or shut UP) my other pictures for today. What’s UP in these photos?

The Daily Bitch Calendar always gets me UP.

Today, I feel UP to calling the IRS about my long-delayed tax refund. I looked UP what might happen if identity thieves have stolen it. Cases of identity theft are going UP, and apparently the IRS is still UP to the task of fixing these UPsetting experiences. Also, it’s UP in the air exactly why my refund has been held UP for so long.

I will give you an UPdate about this tomorrow.

When I’m UP and out for a walk, I often listen to “The Way UP” by the Pat Metheny Group.

As always, I am UP for your comments, if you feel UP to leaving one.

I like to end UP every post with gratitude, so thanks to all who help me keep UP this daily blog, including YOU.

Day 2155: Try me

Let’s try on this definition of “Try me” from The Free Dictionary:

Try me

Also found in: Wikipedia.

Try me.
Ask me.; Give me a chance.

A: I don’t suppose you know what the Achaean League is. B: Try me.

I don’t suppose you know what the Achaean League is, because I don’t either.  However, ask me and give me a chance to show you why I’ve chosen “Try me” for today’s post title.

I didn’t try that moisturizer at MiAlisa Salon yesterday, but I did try to take other photos, which involved trying things.

I tried on some new socks and leggings yesterday morning, despite reading an online article, “What Middle Aged Women Should Not Wear” which included patterned socks and leggings. Try as I might, I can’t find that article today. Also, I’m past middle age, so maybe it’s not so bad if I keep trying those things. However, that combination might be particularly trying.

There’s my friend Deb, trying to pick up leaves in her back yard. Do you want more information about those yellow leaf-picker-uppers?  Try me.  If I don’t know, I can always try to ask Deb.

Here are other images I tried to capture yesterday:

I enjoy images that show people trying new things, including crafts like mosaic quilting and flameworking. If you’re trying too hard to read some of those pictures, try clicking on them to make them larger.

Do you know what season it is around here?  Try me.

As I try to finish up today’s blog post, I’m going to try to share what else is on my mind.  I do want people to try me — to ask me and give me a chance.   I try to convey that as best as I can.  Sometimes I might try too hard and perhaps people find that trying. Also, I can find it trying, sometimes, to try to ask others for what I need.

Do you have questions about all this?  Try me.

Here‘s “Try Me” by James Brown.

Do you want to know how much gratitude I have for all those who helped me create today’s blog post and for you?  Try me.
