Day 1520: Oscar-related lessons

Like every other life experience, the 2017 Oscars provided some valuable lessons, including:

  1. It’s not over until it’s over (which was also a lesson of the Super Bowl earlier this month) and
  2. Everybody makes mistakes.

Here’s another Oscar-related lesson:

img_9190

Don’t fall asleep near an adorable cat named Oscar if you don’t want your photo taken and shared on the internet.

Do you see any lessons in my other photos from yesterday?

I learned these lessons, yesterday, from that clock at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge: That IS a working steam-punk clock, you can make a clock out of anything, and time is ticking, so seize the day!

Any lessons in this music?

If there’s any lesson I’ve learned in my life, it’s to express gratitude to those I appreciate, including you!

Day 1519: The Oscars

I watched the Oscars yesterday.

I also watched Oscar yesterday.

Oscar watched the Oscars, Harley, and me.

I also watched all these things yesterday:

Jackie Chan got an Oscar!  Here he is, singing a song:

I would give everybody Oscars, including you for being here, now.

Day 1518: Left the house before I felt ready

Yesterday, I left the house before I felt ready but not before I was ready to put on this t-shirt:

img_9131

Sometimes we leave the house before we feel ready.

Sometimes people leave our house before we feel ready.

Whether we feel ready or not, we need to  move on.

Do you feel ready for other photos that are left on my phone?

Day 1517: My own experience

My own experience is that I am the expert on my own experience.

img_9113

That is my own t-shirt, which I’ve experienced owning for two years. I own that I enjoy the experience of wearing that t-shirt to appointments with my  own doctors.

Yesterday, my own experience included talking to Josh  from Liberty Mutual who is now managing my long-term disability claim. Josh started off our conversation with, “You’ve had quite the year, haven’t you?” My own experience is that Josh has had good experience dealing with disability claims.

My own experience has included all this:

My own experience is that pictures can tell a story.

Ann Judith Koplow …

But because she’s with the King of Cheeses …

img_9128

… who is silly, honest, and kind …

img_9124

… she’s going to be okay.

My own experience is that Jimi Hendrix is one of the most amazing guitarists that the world has ever experienced. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at “Are You Experienced?” and a rare live performance:

What is your own experience of today’s post?

My own experience is that I’m grateful to all who helped me create it and to you — of course! — for sharing my experience, here and now.

Day 1516: World of Puzzles

It’s a world of puzzles, isn’t it?

Here’s the first photo I took yesterday in my world of puzzles.

img_9093

My world includes these puzzles:

  • Why and how did I come down with a sore throat during the warmest February day I can ever remember?
  • What world issues inspired this tweet, yesterday?

What’s more important? Global warming or my enjoying a 60-degree February day in Boston?

Your strength is your own knowledge and did you have the strong knowledge that I would include some music from the world of YouTube in this puzzling post?

What puzzles are in your world, today?

Thanks to all who helped me create this world of puzzles post and to you — of course! — no matter how puzzled you are, here and now.

Day 1515: Jealousy

Jealousy is one of those “negative” human emotions  which can make people uncomfortable.

Yesterday, the members of my therapy group discussed jealousy  without judgment. Any jealousy about that?

img_9050

img_9052

I doubt there’s any jealousy about my handwriting and drawing abilities. This is what I wrote, yesterday, about jealousy:

  1. Jealousy is a human emotion. I am afraid of other people’s jealousy — I’m afraid the feeling is going to hurt me. But other people’s feelings and thoughts cannot hurt me.
  2. What makes jealousy worse for you? Lack of self-care. Cognitive distortions. Fear. $ Money.
  3. What helps you deal with jealousy? Self care. Recognizing it’s just a feeling. Leaning back and letting jealousy go by me without hurting me.

What are your thoughts and feelings about jealousy?

Do you have jealousy about any of my other photos from yesterday?

Comparisons — the thief of joy — can often lead to jealousy.

Any jealousy about my having a wonderful son, who is turning 19 today and whose YouTube video has  90,000 views this morning?

Any jealousy about all the gratitude I have for everyone who helped me create this post and — of course! — for you?

Day 1514: Trust

Trust me to start a blog post with a definition.

trust
trəst
noun
1.firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
“relations have to be built on trust”
synonyms: confidence, belief, faith, certainty, assurance, conviction, credence, reliance
“good relationships are built on trust”
2.LAW
confidence placed in a person by making that person the nominal owner of property to be held or used for the benefit of one or more others.
verb
1.believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of.
“I should never have trusted her”
synonyms: rely on, depend on, bank on, count on, be sure of
“he can be trusted to carry out an impartial investigation”
2.archaic
allow credit to (a customer).

Do you trust that definition?  What helps or hinders your trust?

I trust that my  boyfriend, Michael, will say this again in the near future:

“Who are you going to trust?  Me or your lying eyes?”

Trusty Michael says that when we’re discussing people in power whom we don’t trust.

Do you trust that my eyes have seen all these things?

Is there trust in your heart, here and now? Do you trust that I’ll find music about trust on YouTube?

Do you trust me to end each post with thanks to all who helped me create it and — of course! — to you?

Day 1513: What’s in your heart?

What’s in your heart as you’re reading this?

What’s in my heart as I’m writing this?

  • Love.
  • Hope.
  • Fear.
  • Acceptance.
  • Anticipation.
  • Curiosity.
  • Blood.
  • Muscle.
  • A mechanical valve.
  • Wires from a 1966 cardiac pacemaker.
  • Wires from a 1987 cardiac pacemaker.
  • Arteries.
  • Veins.
  • Everything I experienced yesterday, including this big heart in the heart of Belmont, Massachusetts:

img_9013

  • Music (which is on the left in that big heart).

  • Groove.
  • Delight.
  • Fun.
  • Mysteries.
  • Wisdom.

img_9023

  • Completeness.
  • The results of decades of eating all sorts of food.

img_9020

  • Appreciation for all who helped me create this post and for you — of course!

Day 1511: Do more of what makes you happy

Yesterday, when I was doing more of what makes me happy — including spending time with people I love, eating delicious and nutritious food, and looking at interesting houses near the water — I saw this at Craig’s Cafe in Quincy, Massachusetts:

img_8931

Wouldn’t it be great if we could do more of what makes us happy and less of what makes us unhappy? What’s stopping us?

Since it makes me happy to share photos with you, I’m going to do more of that now.

Doing more kitty time, yesterday, made me happy  and so did this fortune …

… because it encourages me share more music with you, which makes me happy.

Do more of what makes me happy and please leave a comment, below.

It makes me happy to express more appreciation for all who help me create these daily blog posts and — of course! — for you.
