Day 4156: Unconditional welcome

At some point in every therapy group, I express unconditional welcome by saying, “Thanks for showing up exactly the way you did today.”

Karen Faith, in her TED talk, describes the importance of unconditional welcome for others and for the different parts of oneself.

.

Do you see unconditional welcome in my images for today?

.

My husband Michael is going to give an unconditional welcome to Plant Something Day by planting Calla Lillies. I’m going to practice giving unconditional welcome to audiences (and the different parts of me) for my upcoming shows at the Lilypad in Cambridge.

What are your thoughts and feelings about unconditional welcome?

Thanks for showing up exactly the way you did today!

Day 4155: Places to avoid

I hope this blog is not one of those places to avoid for anybody.

For me, places to avoid are mostly unhelpful places in my mind — where my perception is skewed because of past negative experiences. These places predict failure, misery, and pain, despite all evidence to the contrary.

While I can’t totally avoid these mental places, I’ve learned to leave them more quickly, getting to better and more productive places as soon as possible.

Do you see places to avoid in my images for today?

.

I hope the Daily Bitch isn’t referring to my upcoming concerts at the Lilypad in Cambridge.

I can only imagine what I’ll find when I search for “places to avoid” on YouTube.

Places to avoid never include gratitude, so thanks to all who did not avoid this blog today, including YOU!

Day 4014: Taking a Risk

I’m taking a risk by titling this blog post “Taking a Risk” rather than “Balance” (the other title I was considering).

I’m taking a risk today by paying a deposit on the Lilypad performance space for my concert/live album recording in June.

Shenna Bellows, Maine’s Secretary of State, was taking a risk when she found Trump ineligible to be on the primary ballot there.

.

Do you see anybody taking a risk in my other images for today?

.

Somebody’s taking a risk with their eating habits.

Here’s what I find when I search for “taking a risk” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who helped me create this taking-a-risk post, including YOU.
