Day 2562: Motivation

I’m having trouble working up the motivation to do things these days, including

  • finishing my country song “What’s Keeping Me Up is What’s Going Down” and
  • applying to do another show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

I’m NOT having trouble working up the motivation to

  • blog and
  • spend time with people I love, including my ex-sister-in-law Deborah, who recently adopted a wonderful English Setter named Lake.

.

I’m not sure why I feel like this …

… when I think about finishing my latest original song or applying to do “Group Therapy with Ann” again at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Maybe it’s the fear of failure?  Or maybe it’s the ENFP’s resistance to finishing things and filling out forms.

In any case, I do have the motivation to share my other photos from yesterday.

I don’t have the motivation to put those last two photos right-side up, but I do have the motivation to look for quotes online about motivation.

Wow!  There are SO many motivational quotes on the internet that I don’t have the motivation to go through all of them. Here are four of them:

“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” — Confucius

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.”  —  Jordan Belfort

“The way to get started is to quit talking and to start doing.” — Walt Disney

“When someone tells me ‘no’ it doesn’t mean I can’t do it, it simply means I can’t do it with them.” — Karen E. Quinones Miller

I think that last quote, especially, is going to help me with my motivation today.

Here’s “That’s Motivation” from Julien Temple’s musical Absolute Beginners with David Bowie:

Absolute Beginners was one of the musicals I planned to include in my Masters thesis for Film Studies in the 1980’s, but I never got the motivation to finish it.

Do you have the motivation to comment about this post?

I always have the motivation to express my gratitude to YOU.

Day 2234: When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do

If you’re curious, I had two other possible titles for today’s post, which shows lots of interesting things and people on our trip today to Disney World.  The other two titles were

“Live This Moment” or

“How to Get Around,” but then I saw this perfect quote by Walt Disney:

Curious to find lots of interesting things in my other photos from yesterday?

If you’re curious about any of those photos, you can click on them to make them larger.

I was curious about this hat

because Mickey looks angry, and I’m not used to seeing that.  When I discussed this with an interesting “cast member” at a cash register, we agreed that Mickey, like the rest of us, is allowed to have all his feelings, including anger.

I’m looking forward to doing all sorts of interesting things today, wearing that hat.

If you’re curious about today’s tune, it’s NOT the song I wrote on the plane ride from Boston to Orlando (“What Are Other People Thinking About  You?”).  Instead, it’s “It’s a Small World.”

I’m curious about whether you watched the whole ride and about whatever feelings you’re having, in this moment.

If you’re curious, I’m feeling extreme gratitude for where I am, whom I’m with, and for my readers!

Day 1924: Impossible

Some people feel it’s impossible to blog daily for over five years.  I believe it would have been impossible for me to face the world  as effectively as I have since January 1, 2013 without this blog.

Yesterday, I saw something impossible at a local restaurant.

Because it was possible for me to do so, I took that impossible flag with me. I guess I like taking on the impossible.

It’s very possible to find impossible quotes on the internet.

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. — Francis of Assisi

There is nothing impossible to him who will try.  — Alexander the Great

Women, like men, should try to do the impossible. And when they fail, their failure should be a challenge to others.  — Amelia Earhart

Without knowing what I am and why am I here, life is impossible.  — Leo Tolstoy

It always seems impossible until it’s done.  — Nelson Mandela

Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible!’ — Audrey Hepburn

Even if it turns out that time travel is impossible, it is important that we understand why it’s impossible  — Stephen Hawking

Have a vision.  It is the ability to see the invisible.  If you can see the invisible, you can achieve the impossible.  — Shiv Khera

It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.  — Walt Disney.

It’s kind of fun for me to share my impossible and possible photos here.

If it’s impossible for you to see the details in those photos, please click on any one to enlarge it.

After blogging for so many years, it’s impossible for me not to share photos of something I’ve shared before.

It’s impossible to say what goes on in that room at the Hingham Shipyard movie theater.

The impossibly talented Paul Simon sings “to dominate the impossible in your life” in The Rhythm of the Saints.

Unless it’s impossible, please share your thoughts and feelings in a comment below.

As always, it’s impossible for me to create this blog without the help of others, including YOU.
