Day 3676: Shocking

My husband Michael and I have been watching Deadwood, which was considered shocking when it debuted in 2004 for its extremely profane language. I assumed the language wouldn’t be shocking now but, much to my amazement, it still is.

Why is the language shocking to me? I think it’s because of the shocking anger and cruelty of several of the main characters. Somehow, despite all the anger and cruelty around us, it’s still shocking.

While I work towards acceptance and peace of mind, I’m grateful I still find some things shocking — shocked seems better than numb.

Do you see anything shocking in today’s blog post?

Okay, you bitches, here’s Randy Rainbow and his latest masterpiece about shocking behaviors in the USA House of Representatives.

.

Thanks to all who helped me create this shocking post, including YOU.

Day 3434: Pride

Do you see pride in my images for today?

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “pride.”

Here’s Randy Rainbow demonstrating pride:

Day 2945: Rear view mirrors

Lately, I’ve been using a helpful image to leave behind and let go of toxic things in my life: I imagine them in the rear view mirror of my car, getting smaller as I drive away.

Donald Trump is in my rear view mirror. He’s also in Randy Rainbow’s rear view mirror, as we can see in “Seasons of Trump.”

Also in my rear view mirror are:

  • perfectionism,
  • fear,
  • worry,
  • shame, and
  • assholes.

Soon I’ll be putting my fear about getting COVID-19 again in my rear view mirror, because I’m getting the vaccine on Wednesday!

I wonder what I’ll actually be seeing in my car’s rear view mirror as I drive to the Boston hospital where I work to get my shot.

Do you see any rear view mirrors in these photos?

Compassion will make you beautiful, no matter what mirror you’re using.

What, or who, would you like to put in your rear view mirror?

Thanks to all who helped me create this rear-view-mirrors post, including YOU.

Day 2933: The cure for my anxiety

My wonderful friend Megan, who is always a cure for my anxiety, sent me this yesterday …

… in response to my sending her this:

These days, my anxiety is up because of animals much scarier than those kittens on the floor. The cure for my increased anxiety is capturing images like these:

Ocean scenes, cats, Michael’s cooking, chocolate, the Daily Bitch Calendar, competent leaders, and kindness are among the cures for my anxiety.

Music and comedy are other cures for my anxiety, so here is Randy Rainbow with his latest song parody:

What is the cure for your anxiety?

Many people say gratitude is the cure for anxiety, so thanks to all who help me create this daily blog, including YOU.

Day 2851: Modern

Here‘s a definition of “modern” from the modern Merriam-Webster website:

1 a : of, relating to, or characteristic of the present or the immediate past : CONTEMPORARY
the modern American family
b : of, relating to, or characteristic of a period extending from a relevant remote past to the present time
modern history
2 : involving recent techniques, methods, or ideas : UP-TO-DATE
modern methods of communication
3 capitalized : of, relating to, or having the characteristics of the present or most recent period of development of a language
Modern English
4 : of or relating to modernism : MODERNIST
Modern art has abandoned the representation of recognizable objects.

Speaking of recognizable objects, do you see anything that represents “modern” in these modern images, as I try to stay sane during these modern times?

Because I am the model of a very modern group therapist, I used that magic wand in my Coping and Healing group yesterday, so we could make modern wishes for our modern times.

This Randy Rainbow song parody was modern in 2018 and is still relevant today:

I look forward to your modern comments, below.

Modern gratitude in this thoroughly modern blog looks like this:

Day 2838: Just keep walking

Yesterday, I

  • facilitated a Coping and Healing group remotely from my home,
  • went to Tufts Medical Center to get my first echocardiogram since contracting COVID-19 in March,
  • heard from my wonderful cardiologist Dr. Deeb Salem via email that there was no change in my heart,
  • celebrated the great news by buying cream puffs from my favorite bakery,
  • drove by a demonstration of Black Lives Matter people and Blue Lives Matter people,
  • told my husband and son my good news,
  • walked back toward the demonstration,
  • visited the beautiful collection of painted rocks on the beach,
  • Sharpied more Trump stickers,
  • stood with the Black Lives Matter people as many more Blue Lives Matter people swirled around us with flags and loud noisemakers,
  • asked one of the Black Lives Matter people whether the Blue Lives Matter people were supporting Democrats (whose national color is blue),
  • explained to that person that I was kidding,
  • was told by another Black Lives Matter person that I was awesome and my hair looked great,
  • started walking back home,
  • told a guy who passed me and started talking nonsense about the Black Lives Matter people, “I don’t agree with you so just keep walking,”
  • got caught in a wild and windy rainstorm,
  • just kept walking home for another 30 minutes,
  • changed out of my wet clothes,
  • had some cream puffs,
  • ate a delicious swordfish dish made by my husband Michael,
  • watched the Vice President debate with my husband and son,
  • commented on a fly’s affinity for Mike Pence,
  • ate more cream puffs,
  • declared Kamala Harris the winner,
  • dealt with our internet and cable going out during the debate analysis,
  • put aside worry about it being restored in time for my groups today,
  • went to sleep, and
  • woke up in time to blog before my dental cleaning this morning at 8 AM.

Let’s just keep walking through my most recent photos.

I just keep walking through my Daily Bitch Calendar until November.

I just walked over to YouTube to find “Kamala” by Randy Rainbow:

Just keep commenting, below.

Thanks to all who help me keep walking and blogging every day, including YOU!

Day 2401: Rainbows

Rainbows were on my mind, yesterday, and I never quit seeing them, everywhere.

There were lots of people waiting to pose with that poster of Randy Rainbow after last night’s sold-out show.  Thanks to my wonderful niece, Laura,  for taking that colorful photo.

Here’s Randy Rainbow  singing “BRAGGADOCIOUS!”

… and “Suckers.”

What kinds of rainbows have you seen lately?

Here’s a rainbow of gratitude for all those who help me create these colorful posts and — of course! — to YOU!

Day 2336: Better Speech and Hearing Month

If this is Better Speech and Hearing Month,

fullsizeoutput_39af

why aren’t we hearing better speeches this month? Instead, we’re hearing speeches, again, about our U.S. President being a “stable genius.”

Considering the speeches we’re hearing this month, I would prefer stillness.

Therefore, I am not going to make any speeches this month.  I’m just going to share all the photos I’ve been taking, looking for better stable geniuses around me. I hope these pictures help  you feel better, hear and now.

I will share this: I’ve been hearing better speeches about my Coping and Healing groups during Better Speech and Hearing Month, which makes it easier to share groups I love.

How might you celebrate Better Speech and Hearing Month?

Personally, I’m looking forward to hearing better speeches (and maybe new comedy monologues) from my son, Aaron, who arrives from Edinburgh today!

Now, let’s hear  “A Very Stable Genius” by Randy Rainbow:

I’m going to be celebrating Lasagna Awareness Month by hearing Randy Rainbow live in Boston.

I look forward to hearing my readers’ speeches in the comments section, below.

It’s better, during any month, to share gratitude, so thanks to all who helped me create all of my blog posts during Better Speech and Hearing Month, and — of course! — thanks to YOU,  as always, for hearing me out.

Day 2136: What are you going to do today?

What are you going to do today?

Are you going to think about blue waves?

IMG_0871

Are you going to bitch about things?

Are you going to live your life as if it actually mattered?

Are you going to watch USA election returns with your own eyes?

Are you going to be a flamingo in a world full of pigeons?

IMG_0953

Are you going to eat food that’s good for you?

Today, I am going to do all those things AND I am going to VOTE!  Who’s going to join me?

I’m also going to share VOTING — the latest opus by Randy Rainbow.

Are you going to comment on this post today?

Another thing I’m going to do today: Thank everybody who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — YOU.
