Day 1664: Q words

Quick! It’s time for another quirky post from the quintessential blog about non-judgmental living.

In her quest to complete my yearly review, my manager recently quizzed a quota of qualified co-workers about me, the self-described Queen of group therapy. In response to that query,  a doctor quietly quipped that I was something that begins with the letter Q.

Question to all my qualified readers:  Is that Q word already quoted in this post or is it one of these?

quality

querulous

quipster

quizzical

quarrelsome

quixotic

I have no quarrel with the Q word that was quoted about me, especially since another doctor — who is definitely not a quack —  had no qualms calling me the same Q word quite a few years ago.

Do you see Q words in this quantity of yesterday’s pictures, snapped by a queasy blogger cleaning out her old home?

I saved a small quantity of LPs yesterday, including “Walking in Space” by Quincy Jones (also known as “Q”).

Before I quit, here‘s a quality cut from that album:

Un-qualified thanks to everyone who helped me quietly put together this Q-word post and un-questionable thanks to you, quite the reader!

Day 1663: It’s okay

Several years ago, I participated in a group therapy exercise where we created a personal flag.  I hope it’s okay if I ask what you would put on your personal flag.

Here’s my okay flag:

IMG_2539

Telling myself “it’s okay” helps me deal with a lot, every day.

A few months ago, a more-than-okay person shared a variant of “it’s okay.”

It’ll be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.

It’s not the end yet, so here are my other okay pictures for today.

Here and now, I’m blogging inside that gazebo and let me tell you — IT’S OKAY!

Here‘s some okay music:

Thanks to all who helped make this post okay and — of course! — to you. Okay?

Day 1659: Everything must go

Because today is moving day, everything must go, including everything I photographed yesterday.

Everything must go, including that important message I wrote yesterday.

Here’s “Everything Must Go” by Steely Dan, who are everything.

Before everything must go to our new home by the ocean, I must go to sincere thanks to all who helped me create this everything-must-go post and — of course! — to you, for going with me.

Day 1658: Ready?

Ready for some links to other posts I’ve written about being ready? Ready or not, here, here, here, here, herehere they come.

After I wrote that first “Ready” post on Day 10 of this blog, I was ready to create this t-shirt:

IMG_2304

I left the house before I felt ready yesterday (wearing that t-shirt) because a furniture delivery at our new home by the sea was scheduled between 7:30 and 10:30 AM. I wondered if I would be ready for my 9 AM haircut appointment, miles away, and then ready for Comcast to come to the new home in the afternoon.

The furniture delivery guys showed up at 8 and I was ready for them. However, I wasn’t ready for this exchange:

Furniture delivery guys: You ordered a white table, right?

Me: No!

Furniture delivery guys: You didn’t?  That’s all we’ve got.

Me: Arrrrgh.

Furniture delivery guys: It’s a poker table, right?

Me: Are you guys yanking my chain?

Furniture delivery guys: (silence and then laughter when I punched one of them in the arm)

Me: Do you guys usually pretend you have the wrong stuff?

Furniture delivery guys: ALL THE TIME.

Even though I wasn’t ready for those guys to be such excellent actors that I was totally fooled for a few moments, I was ready for them to deliver our dining room set and so were they.

They were definitely ready for their close-up.

On my way to MiAlisa salon, I was ready to take a picture of a car in front of me with the license plate “ANGRY,” with my iPhone set to ready, aim,  fire on the dashboard of my car.

IMG_2318

Ready to learn that the car on the left is the Angry one? That reminded me that those ready furniture delivery guys had told me that people readily get angry when they pretend they have the wrong stuff in the truck.

Ready for my other photos from yesterday?

Whether or not we’re ready, we’ve moving to our new home by the ocean tomorrow, July 17.

Gotta go pack so we’re ready for the movers tomorrow at 7 AM, but first, are you ready for more thanks from me?

Day 1657: Cheese/Cloth

For our move on Monday, we’re packing up everything we’re holding on to, including this:

IMG_2261

Because of my cheesy mind, I noticed cheese AND cloth for the rest of the day (as well as a few other things). Do any of these photos make you smile as wide as saying “Cheese”?

I do love cheese, so maybe we’ll get a pizza tonight after another arduous day of packing.

In the meantime, here‘s a cheesy song.

Thanks to all who helped me create another cheesy post and to you — of course! — for reading it.

Day 1656: Holding on

I’m holding on to many things as we pack up to move, including

  • my sense of humor,
  • things I find valuable,
  • my job,
  • creatures I love,
  • my thoughts,
  • my feelings,
  • my sanity, and
  • my iPhone, so I can be put on hold and also take pictures of my holdings.

Before I started writing today’s blog post, I got a little ferklempt at the end of this excerpt from last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show (which is holding on here at YouTube):

As always, I’m holding on to gratitude for all those who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — for you, who keep me holding on.

Day 1654: What’s wrong with me?

What’s wrong with me, that I keep writing posts with similar titles?

What’s wrong with me, that I feel the need to link to those past posts here, here, and here?

What’s wrong with me, that when I read posts I wrote when I was dealing with so many health problems, I cry?

What’s wrong with me, that I’m having so much trouble sleeping as we prepare to move?

What’s wrong with me, that when I write these blog posts, I have to close one eye to see better, unless I’m wearing my glasses?

What’s wrong with me, that I don’t immediately put on my glasses when I start writing these posts?

What’s wrong with me, that I keep catastrophizing about what’s going to go wrong with the move and with our new place?

What’s wrong with me, that I second guess so many of my decisions, including those I’ve made so far in writing this post?

What’s wrong with me, that I’ve taken to heart some critical comments one person made about my writing when I was in college, which I rediscovered when I was going through old papers in the basement?

What’s wrong with me, that I always share photos I took the day before?

IMG_2207.JPG

IMG_2211

IMG_2216

IMG_2215

IMG_2213

What’s wrong with me, that I’ve saved old get-well cards and my son’s old Halloween costumes, like when he dressed up as static cling?

What’s wrong with me, that I try to include relevant music in my posts? What’s wrong with me, that I thought the title of this song was “(What’s wrong with) Peace Love and Understanding?”

What’s wrong with peace, love, and understanding?  Nothing.

What’s wrong with ending every post with gratitude, when I’m so grateful to all who help me create these posts and to my readers, too?  And I hope you know there’s nothing wrong with you (or with me).  ❤

Day 1653: I don’t get it

These days, there are lots of things I don’t get.

I don’t get

  • why I get upset when people don’t get me,
  • why I feel insecure when I don’t get it,
  • why people get away with so much,
  • why so many people voted for Trump,
  • why getting ready for a move is so stressful,
  • and many other things that get me.

Get it?

Whenever I get a cup of tea, I usually get the saying that I get with the teabag. Yesterday, I didn’t get it.

IMG_2200

Maybe I don’t get it because the word “should” gets to me. (If you’d like to get an early post  of mine about shoulds,  get it here.)

If you get that teabag saying, I hope I get a comment about it.

In every moment of life, I should be what I ought to be.  I should be sharing my other photos from yesterday, so I ought to get them for you.

IMG_2198

IMG_2201

Did you get that I heard beautiful music at  work and got another great dinner from Michael?

“I don’t get it” gets a lot on YouTube (get it  here, here, here,  and here).

I don’t get a lot, but I get thankful every day for people who help me get what I need to create this daily blog. I hope you get this: I’m especially thankful for YOU.

Day 1652: Here and now, there and then

Here and now, we’re getting ready to move, so I’m unearthing many memories from there and then.

There and then, I’ve created my own t-shirts.

IMG_2194

The first t-shirt I ever created, there and then, had the Chinese name for Jackie Chan (“become the dragon”). There and then I loved that t-shirt, especially because I was born in the Year of the Dragon.

Here and now are more memories from there and then.

I hope it’s okay, here and now, that I include three musical numbers from there and then (here, here, here and now on YouTube).

In the words of Pat Metheny, “We Live Here.”  Together.

As always, I express thanks to those who helped me create this then-and-there, here-and-now post and to you — of course! — for being here, now.

Day 1651: Moving experiences

We’re moving. How do you experience moving?  Most people find moving a stressful experience.

Moving often involves letting go of old stuff, which can be a moving and emotional experience.

IMG_2135

Yesterday, I was moving, packing up, and recycling many things in our basement, including that chart of emotions I used when my son Aaron was very young.  I was moved by many of the emotions on that chart as I sorted through what we had moved down into the basement during our last moving experience.

I have excuses and alibis for including the seven videos below  — moving on YouTube herehere, here, here, here,  here,  and here  –because of all the moving memories I experienced yesterday.

If you want to share your experience of this post, please move down to the comments section below.

Moving thanks to all who helped me experience all those moving memories yesterday and inspired me to create today’s post. More moving thanks to you — of course! — for bringing your moving experiences here, now.
