Day 3071: Here comes trouble

Here comes trouble in the form of yet another daily blog post from me, who likes to wear these socks:

Here comes trouble as my hometown of Boston gets rid of almost all mask mandates and social distancing rules today, which is troubling many people I know.

Here comes trouble because major changes in rules and routines, widespread distrust in the media and in political leaders, real and present dangers, and uncertainties about the future are all very troubling.

Here comes trouble as I share all my latest images with you.

.

Here comes trouble: I’ve posted WAAYYY more than 70 days in a row. (Three thousand more, WordPress!)

Here and here come the two songs I mentioned as I was causing trouble on Twitter:

Consider causing some trouble in the comments section below.

Here comes gratitude from me to YOU!

Day 2992: Is it normal?

“Is it normal?” is something therapists, like me, hear frequently. Normally, I reply

  • what does “normal” even mean?
  • what do you think?
  • is it getting in the way for you or others? and/or
  • yes

… to questions like “Is it normal to be…”

  • bored?
  • sad?
  • scared?
  • anxious?
  • depressed?
  • crying?
  • laughing?
  • emotional?
  • sensitive?
  • distracted?
  • unmotivated?
  • enthusiastic?
  • numb?
  • angry?
  • serene?
  • agitated?
  • happy?
  • confused?
  • certain?
  • panicky?
  • proud?
  • annoyed?
  • insecure?
  • secure?
  • disappointed?
  • celebrating?
  • restless?
  • calm?
  • lost?
  • found?
  • pessimistic?
  • optimistic?
  • distrustful?
  • trusting?
  • comfortable?
  • uncomfortable?
  • active?
  • passive?
  • controlling?
  • embarrassed?
  • shy?
  • hungry?
  • upset about other people’s behaviors?
  • upset about my own behaviors?
  • caring more for others than I’m caring for myself?
  • self-centered?
  • sharing this?
  • hiding this?
  • despairing?
  • hopeful?
  • missing someone so long after they’re gone ?

Is it normal to take pictures and to hang out on Twitter during a pandemic?

Is it normal that I shared today’s Daily Bitch with my Coping and Healing group yesterday and people loved it?

Is it normal to dance to the song “Happy” when so many people are unhappy?

Is it normal to leave comments or not leave comments?

What do you think?

Is it normal to be grateful every day?

Day 2414: Don’t worry, be _appy

Don’t worry, be happy, my dentist suggested to me yesterday, when I was worrying about having swallowed a loose dental crown.

It’s easy for me to be happy and to not worry when I have such a wonderful dentist.

Don’t worry, be happy that I have more photos from yesterday.

Don’t worry, be happy wearing whatever you like (especially when you’re on vacation) and spending time with felines and humans you love.

Last night, when Rachmaninoff’s 1st symphony came on the radio, Michael said he thought Rachmaninoff could be “sappy.”  Don’t worry, be sappy, Rachmaninoff.

Don’t worry, I’ll be snappy ending this post with my usual gratitude for all who help me create this daily blog and — of course! — for YOU.

Day 2284: People who ____ are happy.

I’m happy to start out my second blog post in a row with a generalization about people, inspired by a Yogi Tea quote. While yesterday’s blog post title (and Yogi Tea quote)  was “People who love are forgiving,” today’s is about people who are happy.

Before I share the Yogi Tea quote, I’m going to ask you to fill in the blank for “People who _____ are happy.”  Do you think the missing word is

  • forgive,
  • smile,
  • create,
  • share,
  • hope,
  • laugh,
  • look,
  • listen,
  • love,
  • live,
  • give,
  • strive,
  • accept,
  • play,
  • work,
  • inspire,
  • grow,
  • learn,
  • teach,
  • connect,
  • relax,
  • rest,
  • move,
  • ask,
  • nourish,
  • awaken,
  • gladden,
  • sing,
  • feel,
  • reveal, or
  • some other word?

I shall now reveal the Yogi Tea quote:

Do you happily love that or any of my other photos from yesterday?

I love the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.

Do you think that people who comment are happy? I think people who express gratitude daily are happy, so thanks to all who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — to YOU.

Day 1511: Do more of what makes you happy

Yesterday, when I was doing more of what makes me happy — including spending time with people I love, eating delicious and nutritious food, and looking at interesting houses near the water — I saw this at Craig’s Cafe in Quincy, Massachusetts:

img_8931

Wouldn’t it be great if we could do more of what makes us happy and less of what makes us unhappy? What’s stopping us?

Since it makes me happy to share photos with you, I’m going to do more of that now.

Doing more kitty time, yesterday, made me happy  and so did this fortune …

… because it encourages me share more music with you, which makes me happy.

Do more of what makes me happy and please leave a comment, below.

It makes me happy to express more appreciation for all who help me create these daily blog posts and — of course! — for you.
