I could have named this blog post differently but I didn’t. I should have enough experience after blogging daily for almost 10 years to know that the title doesn’t make or break a post.
I could have written a different opening paragraph, but that one is good enough.
Yesterday, in a therapy group, I told people that today was National Toss Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day. I could have said more but I didn’t need to, because we often talk about tossing away unhelpful thoughts in order to live more in the moment.
Do you see any “could haves” or “should haves” in my images for today?

.
I could have gotten my first dog last year but instead I chose to adopt Joan. No regrets.
This is what I find on YouTube when I search for “could haves and should haves.”
.
I could and should express gratitude to all those who help me blog every day, including YOU!

That is a very interesting idea! Somehow, when you suggested tossing the “could haves” and “should have” I thought of salad. Could Have Should Have salad.
I may eat my words.
Those plastic buckets of pink flowers lining a drive are lovely. I wonder how someone will water them?
Thank you for this very interesting comment, Maureen!
if it doesn’t serve you let it go…thats what someone told me once. have a joyful day sending smiles ~ hedy
Thanks for making my day more joyful, Hedy.
I could have stayed up when I arose to feed and let Ellie at 6 this morning, but instead I chose to return to bed and get more needed sleep this being a Saturday morning, Ann.
Good choices, Mark!
Joe Manchin should just admit he’s a Republican.
I agree
We should have more real Democrats in Congress.
I’m okay with could haves, means considering options- and you made the choice not to. In the past and moved on. Nothing wrong with that. But should haves deal with guilt, regret, self-doubt- so much negative there, not worth spending time and emotion on. Move on. Present is all we have so live it fully. Ps machin could have chosen to use his position to empower, support and help the people he purports to represent. Hopefully in the present these same people will vote in a change.
I couldn’t have a better reader than you, beth.
I’ll toss the “should haves,” but I think today I really could have broken away and spent the day at the beach. But I didn’t! And your photos have me questioning my choice. 🙂
I never question my choice of being friends with you, Debra!
It looks like your walk took you off the beaten path. It’s good to get off the beaten path but today also seems like an especially good day to take whatever path we want rather than worrying about which ones we could have or should have taken.
I appreciate sharing paths with you, Chris.
