Day 3309: How to express empathy

How do you express empathy? With spoken words? Written words? Facial expressions? Hugs? Other non-verbal communication?

Where do you express empathy? In person? On the phone? In ZOOM gatherings? On social media?

To whom do you express empathy? To family members? Friends? Acquaintances? Strangers?

Sometimes I’m not sure how to express empathy, but I know I feel it every day.

Do you see how to express empathy in any of my images for today?

If you comment, I will do my best to express empathy in my response.

Thanks for all who feel and express empathy, including YOU.

  1. i think we can express empathy in most every way, every thing we do and say, in ways that are both big and small

  2. Be available if called upon.

  3. Really enjoyed this Ann. Still looking for the right emoji combination. πŸ§Έβ€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ§Έ

  4. I express empathy with words and deeds and sometimes by just being there, Ann … like when you, me and my dear wife Karen spend a day together in Cape Cod catching up and knowing once more that we are forever friends.

  5. πŸ«‚β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ«‚ There really needs to be a new emoji!

  6. Hi Ann, I think some people exude empathy, and don’t even have to try. My husband has no empathy, and can’t read the room, so to speak. Me, I think having worked with children for so long, have learned to notice things others don’t (because children often times cannot verbalize fully what they are feeling and thinking – but then sometimes I think I can be completely oblivious and when it’s pointed out to me, I feel horrible for being such a heartless person. I like this post; it gives me something to think about. Perhaps you should design an empathy emoji!!

  7. I think an empathy emoji might be one that has a face that looks like “Oh yeah” and shows recognition. I love your trigger song and that your song group is getting together online!

I like the words to your song, Ann. . Compliments

  9. On another site I visit regularly where people can create custom emojis someone added one of Calvin and Hobbes sitting together to express empathy. It’s one of my most used emojis. Apparently I express empathy a lot.
