Day 3294: Speeches

Last night, after I had listened to President Joe Biden’s excellent speech about the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, I asked this question about speeches on Twitter:

.

I could make a speech about how great the answers were, including these:

Here is one of the great speeches cited above:

.

Any speeches about this or my other images for today?

Joan the cat makes speeches all the time. I don’t speak cat but I can usually catch the gist of her speeches, including this one:

If you want to make a speech about this “Speeches” post, there’s room below.

My speeches always include gratitude, so thanks to all who help me create this daily blog, including YOU.

  1. I’ll try to keep this short, Ann, expressing thanks to your Twitter followers for making me remember so many great speeches.

    • I’ll try to keep this short, too, Mark, expressing my thanks to you for all the memories we’ve shared together.

  2. I am speechless!

  3. I was not familiar with the quote from Aeschylus that Robert Kennedy quoted when MLK was murdered, and it is so moving. Thank you for sharing this.

  4. I think there have been some great speeches, including many referenced here, and also the funeral oration of Pericles, as recorded by Thucydides, but a speech from a professor at Cornell University on the subject of recycling has always stuck with me. Unfortunately I can’t remember the professor’s name but I remember that he said we have to understand that in nature there is no such thing as “waste”. In nature everything is reused in an endless cycle, and, in order to live in this world in a truly sustainable way, we have to operate that way too.

  5. I am a huge fan of free speech.

  6. The best speech so far is Joan and Harley’s.
