“Take a breath” is something I often say to myself and to others in therapy. Take a breath to
- take a break,
- take a step back,
- take care of yourself,
- take care of others,
- slow down,
- reduce anxiety,
- be less impulsive,
- practice radical acceptance,
- get in touch with what you know,
- get in touch with what you do not know,
- gain clarity,
- gain perspective,
- connect with yourself, and
- connect with the universe.
Take a breath as we look at all my images for the day.

It’s like the world is taking breath after justice has been served for George Floyd, who was deprived of his right to take a breath and live.
Here‘s “Take a Breath” by Raffi.
Take a breath and leave a comment, if you choose.
Take a breath and experience my gratitude for all who help me take a breath and blog every day, including YOU.

Yes, Ann, I took a breath as I let Ellie in and out in the starting snow this morning.
Keep taking those breaths, my friend!
I’ll take a few if I may!
Take a million, Peter!
I took a breath of warm spring air this morning, grateful for the new asthma medication that allows me to take a deeper breath than before.
One of my kids baked bread last night and our house still smells of it.
I breathe easier whenever you’re here, Maureen.
i was holding my breath for so long, waiting for this trial verdict. i feel very happy that i was able to see it happen live with my daughter, my african-american son in law, and my bi-racial grandchildren. we all cried and breathed, knew that it was a ‘beginning’ moment of great importance.
I was holding my breath with you all, my friend.
❤️
Tonight someone in my writing group read a story about how she saved a baby bird she found on the sidewalk, and somehow, given recent events, that story spoke to me perhaps even more profoundly than it might have at another time. It was a powerful reminder that all life is connected and while I’m glad there are consequences for taking a life I’m also glad there are those who care enough to save even a very small life.
You are always a breath of fresh air, my friend.
My new watch has an app that alerts me throughout the day to take a few deep breaths. At first I thought this was kind of unnecessary, but I’m learning to like it simply as a very good reminder. 🙂
I’m taking a deep and grateful breath right now, dear Debra!
The term ‘radical acceptance’ is really interesting, and your blog & images are a breath of fresh air.
Thank you, Maria!
I took a breath as I walked in the park today and saw a beautiful swan.
