Day 2945: Rear view mirrors

Lately, I’ve been using a helpful image to leave behind and let go of toxic things in my life: I imagine them in the rear view mirror of my car, getting smaller as I drive away.

Donald Trump is in my rear view mirror. He’s also in Randy Rainbow’s rear view mirror, as we can see in “Seasons of Trump.”

Also in my rear view mirror are:

  • perfectionism,
  • fear,
  • worry,
  • shame, and
  • assholes.

Soon I’ll be putting my fear about getting COVID-19 again in my rear view mirror, because I’m getting the vaccine on Wednesday!

I wonder what I’ll actually be seeing in my car’s rear view mirror as I drive to the Boston hospital where I work to get my shot.

Do you see any rear view mirrors in these photos?

Compassion will make you beautiful, no matter what mirror you’re using.

What, or who, would you like to put in your rear view mirror?

Thanks to all who helped me create this rear-view-mirrors post, including YOU.

  1. hatred, cruelty, and selfishness from people who live with these traits and take actions under this umbrella

  2. Let’s have good things all around us, Ann. Knock on wood.

Oh, Ann, I’m happy for you. I hope you will share with us the experience of the vaccine. I would like to see the day we can put this virus in the rear view mirror. I love the quote on your teabag

  4. Hindsight may be 20/20 but I’m glad 2021 has given you the vaccine to look forward to.

  5. Oh good old Randy Rainbow. I must have missed this one, so thank you! I hope to some day see him in person and share my appreciation for the many times he’s lifted my spirits! LOL! I’m receiving my immunization tomorrow (first dose) and so glad to have that opportunity. I’m not looking back to the horrors of 2020, and I am taking as many cleansing breaths as I can muster! 🙂

  6. The rear view mirror is clear because Harley is on the wheel leading the way.

  7. Pray God, forces of good or rear view mirror reflections. Be gone and move forward.

  8. Randy never disappoints! Glad that you have your vaccination scheduled, Ann. I don’t anticipate being eligible til sometime this summer. Would love to put all this partisanship and divisiveness in my rear view mirror (and all those conservative pundits, too.)
