Day 2868: Looking forward to the future

When you are consumed with fear, anger, hopelessness, or helplessness, looking forward to the future is difficult.

After listening to Vice President Joe Biden’s speech last night, I am looking forward to the future again.

I am looking forward to watching his speech for a second time, here and now.

It’s wonderful looking forward to the future through tears of relief.

I am looking forward to the future and

  • tonight’s Saturday Night Live hosted by Dave Chappell,
  • a good night’s sleep,
  • dancing in the street (masked) when the results are finally announced,
  • collecting on all the bets I made of cookies and cash that Trump would lose this election, and
  • sharing the few images I captured yesterday.

.

.

Looking forward to the future when there isn’t a national sleep deficit.

Looking forward to telling you that this photo from the past of me looking forward to the future …

.

… was taken by my excellent ex-husband, Leon Fairbanks, who reads this blog.

Looking forward to the future of reading your comments, below.

Looking forward to the future, as always, with gratitude for all, including YOU.

  1. It makes me feel positive to see you feeling positive again and for such a positive force to be moving into the White House

    • It makes me feel positive to see your typical positivity, beth, and I am positively looking forward to the future with you !

  2. It’s all over but the shouting, I so dearly hope Ann.
When that wish popped into my head just now, I had to look up its origin …
    From writingexplained.com:
… this idiom is often traced back to 19th century voting practices. In elections, ballots were counted by hand. Usually, when the count was first announced, the customary crowd of people that gathered to await the results cheered loudly. Oftentimes, this was a preliminary indication of who would win the election, hence the expression, all over but the shouting.
    OK, it fits!

  3. I am glad to learn that you are feeling optimistic and less stressed.

  4. I am glad you are looking forward to the future Ann, I look forward to looking forward with you. Good news from our side of the country – it is raining!! It is a sign of good things to come. Maybe the rain will wash away the horrors of this last year. I look forward to that! Have a completely optimistic day Ann. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

  5. I turned off social media last night so didn’t watch President Elect Biden’s speech. When I watched it here this morning, the count from Pennsylvania had just taken him over the 270 mark.

    Breathing again.
    Smiling.
    Feeling hopeful.

I do not live in the United States and cannot imagine the anxiety and stress the past four years and now this election has caused. I can stand united with you in the President Elect’s call for civility, unity and hope.

Congratulations to you and your country Ann on a wise choice.

    (I am relieved!)

The people have spoken! We have new President who knows what it means to suffer, ergo, has humility. I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off our shoulders. I feel the world is happy with us. I like the pictures of you m Ann.

  7. I was in a public place when learned the encouraging news. I didn’t cry for joy then, but i feel I just might in the privacy of my home.

  8. Congratulations to you al!!

  9. Today we have sunshine, temps in the 70s in November….and Biden/Harris. Unbeatable wonderful day.

  10. I feel better about the future than I did earlier, and I want to read Carol Pearson’s books. No matter what there are always books I want to read so that’s something to look forward to.

  11. Looking forward to a much improved presence in the White House, a man who cares about all Americans and non Americans and not just himself and his cronies, and looking forward to a Vice President who will be a new broom alongside Mr President.

  12. I love your “pics from the past” and your long hair. I think there was a time you and I had the same haircut. LOL!

I’m looking forward to feeling hopeful. I’m looking forward to letting go of fear. I’m looking forward to the restoration of a sense of decency coming from the Executive Branch. There’s a lot of sadness for the divisions we still have, but I’m looking forward to a President who won’t throw gasoline on fires!

  13. I’m also looking forward to the future, and pets ARE going back to the WH this time, I’m just disappointed it wasn’t Dr. Harley, or Poet Laureate Oscar.

  14. Dear God, but it’s wonderful to have a president again! It has been a long walk in the desert these past four years…. I know there is much work to be done, but breathing easier this morning.
