Day 2586: What are the chances?

What are the chances that

  • I’d still be blogging daily after seven chance-filled years,
  • I’ve never used the word “chance” or “chances” in a title before, and
  • two photos I took yesterday had to do with chances?

What are the chances that there are at least  two timely quotes about chances from Mark Twain?

Necessity is the mother of taking chances.

When a person cannot deceive himself the chances are against his being able to deceive other people.

What are the chances of anybody understanding the meaning of this button, which I found on the floor of my car?

What are the chances of anybody being able to read this blurry photo?

What are the chances of there being a cat in today’s blog?

What are the chances of there being a dog in today’s blog?

What are the chances that traffic is going to suck in Boston today?

What are the chances that somebody would give somebody they love this t-shirt as gift?

What are the chances that there are several  “Chances Are” songs (here, here, here, and here on YouTube)?

What are the chances that I knew about only one of those songs before today?

What are the chances that you’re going to comment about this post?

Finally, what are the chances that I’ll end this post with gratitude?

  1. I’ll always take the chance to read, savor, and comment here, Ann.

  2. I took the chance to google I T M F A and whenever there are no dogs in a post it is ruff!

I’m going to take a chance and interpret the black and white button: International Tourist at the Museum of Fine Arts 🙂 Chances are that I’ll share with you my like for Johnny Mathis ‘s songs. Have a nice day, Ann

  4. I prefer to take the advice of the venerable Han Solo who said, “Never tell me the odds.” As the world regularly reminds us anything can happen, and usually does. So I’ll also paraphrase the even more venerable Arthur C. Clarke who said that we can always say something has happened but we can never really say that it won’t.

What are the chances that somebody can lift the cow cover off the butter dish for Harley?

  6. OMG. Well, the chances are you know this, Ann, but Impeach the Mother F-er Already. It sounds very Boston, but I don’t know where it originated and am embarrassed after the far classier interpretation of the initials, involving the MFA. Ah, well. I can see why it might have been in your car.

  7. What are the chances that I’m going to see my grandson this weekend? He lives 400 miles away, but I’m going to go play with a 2-year old. And chances are I’m going to have fun. 🙂

  8. As you know, we were given a second chance – 11 years ago

  9. Chances are I will now hear Johnny Mathis in my head all day singing.. which is not a bad thing!

  11. What are the chances Harley stops staring at you? Closer to none.
