Day 2462: On the verge of tears

Almost exactly a year ago, I wrote a blog post with almost exactly the same title as today’s.

I wonder if I’m on the verge of tears, here and now, because

  • summer is gone,
  • I’ve lost three close and beloved friends in the last fifteen months (including two within the last four weeks),
  • I’ve been sharing important thoughts and feelings (including tears) with new people (like classmates at my 45th college reunion exactly a week ago),
  • I’m more than half-way through my Presidency of the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy,
  • I’ve been providing my Coping and Healing groups for more and more people,
  • everywhere I look I see emotional pain and physical pain in others,
  • even though I invite people to throw away harsh self judgment and other old habits that do not serve them well, that’s much easier said than done,
  • global warming and the world’s political situations scare me to the depths of my soul,
  • I wonder about the future for my son, and
  • I’m so friggin’ grateful to be alive.

I’m on the verge of revealing all my recent photos.

Yesterday, Oscar was on the verge of having an infected paw because of ingrown nails.  Now he’s on the verge of being back to his usual self.

I’m on the verge of revealing some news about me and my boyfriend, Michael. Can you guess what that news is?

Here‘s “On the Verge of Tears” sung by Patty Loveless:

What puts you on the verge of tears?

I’m always on the verge of expressing my gratitude for all who help me create these blog posts, including YOU.

  1. I can’t guess your news, Ann, because I can think of more than one thing that you might announce. And there are so many kinds of tears. I will wait for your announcement. In the meantime, I am sorry you have suffered the loss of three friends and some other sorrows, and I commend you for noticing Oscar’s nails. Oscar needs you every day, tearful days and joyful ones.

  2. Sorry your emotions are in turmoil. Losing friends and family who are friends is never easy. The suspense is killing me but I’m hoping it won’t be too scary. Chin up! Have a cup of tea and a nap. It will get better.

Well, let me first guess! about you and Michael- you’re getting married! So, list of tears list, has to do with time going by quickly and fear of the unknown. Those are on my list of tears list too- my list of fears as well. Have a good week-end 🙂

    • You are an excellent guesser! Time going by quickly and fear of the unknown are on a lot of people’s lists— you are not alone!

  4. I get more prone to tears with each year that passes. Good things, and bad, happy, and sad.
I pray that the world steps back from the path of self destruction it seems to be on at the moment, and very soon.
I hope that your current news is for a happy, happy event, and that you continue to help many people in the future.
We are on the verge of better things.
    Hugs to you Ann.

  5. I know that being on the verge of tears can be like being on the verge of a sneeze. It may not be easy to let it go but once you do you’ll feel better.

  6. It isn’t easy to loose friends or near family, Ann. You need to allow yourself to mourn for your loss.
Your news could be a marriage or another happy news.

  7. I am often on the verge of tears, just so you know

  8. I am very interested in your news, Ann. Don’t wait to tell us too long or our imaginations might take flight! 🙂 I have tears of frustration these days. I’m more and more concerned about the world my grandchildren will experience. The implications of choices today bode very poorly for them in their future, and that’s worthy of me shedding tears. Your recent losses are very upsetting, and I can imagine your emotions would be in turmoil. Hugs to you, dear Ann.

    • I let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, in a photo in the post after this one. I’m always on the verge of expressing my deep appreciation to you, Debra. ❤

  9. One of my late friends was always on the verge of tears when relating kindness towards him; I trust your news will bring you to the verge of similar tears

  10. Seeing people giving loving kindness toward others .. is for me.

  11. My guess would be very happy news that would move me to tears of joy, Ann!

  12. I’m so sorry for your losses Ann. I’ve experienced tears of sorrow and gratitude of late. Sure is a difference between the two.
