Day 2237: Some observation techniques

Yesterday, at the Animal Kingdom section of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, USA, I observed this sign:

I’m wondering if you can use your observation techniques to spot some observable clothing, birds, mammals, amphibians, fish, humans, plants, the land of Pandora from the movie “Avatar,” and any other things you observe as interesting in these photos:

Did you use your observation techniques to spot an enormous bull frog, a beautiful animal in the lower left corner of a mural depicting a herd of that same kind of animal, the topsy-turvy picture, or this child’s drawing?

As far as I can observe, that’s a picture of a hippo saying “Don’t hunt me” and/or “Don’t hurt me.”

We are using our observation techniques today to observe that several of us got food poisoning last night, so we are spending more time today using our observational techniques in our hotel rooms. My observation is that we will probably all be okay by tomorrow.

Please use your observation techniques to check in again tomorrow. For now

  1. Hi Ann – you poor things – food poisoning on vacation – thats the worst. I am surprised you didn’t include a photo of the toilet – as part of the observation post. I did love all of your photos – especially the one of the Okapi – which is one of my favorite animals. Did you know the the stripes on their butts are so different, they are like fingerprints! How cool is that. I hope you all feel better today – so you can enjoy the rest of your time there. Did you figure out where you got the food poisoning from? Feel better!!!

    • Hi SD! Thank you for your helpful and interesting observations. We’re not sure where the food poisoning came from, although we’ve observed that it might have been from some rare tuna at a restaurant.

  2. Bummer to get sick from food especially while on such a great vacation. Hope you feel better fast.
Looks like a lot of fun!

  3. There’s so much to observe here, including that amazing shirt that Aaron made, and I’ve observed that creatures of Earth and creatures of Pandora look a lot alike. Some might call this a failure of imagination on the part of filmmakers, but I attribute it to convergent evolution. Some things may be truly universal, although we still shouldn’t hurt or hunt the hippos. The ones here on Earth are still unique and special.
And I hope the food poisoning passes quickly. This vacation is also unique and special, and so are all of you.

  4. What a collection of animals. I hope you all are well tomorrow!

  5. My how Walt’s kingdom still looks so magical, Ann.
