Day 2236: Aim Higher

Yesterday, when we were in line for Toy Story Midway Mania at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, I saw this:

Soon after that, when we were in line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring AerosmithI received this email, in response to my attempt to aim higher by applying to do a show at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival:

Happy New Year 2019 Applicants

Thank you for applying to join The Free Fringe in 2019. This is just a short message to let you know the first allocations will be on their way in the next couple of weeks so please sit tight. We’ve all had a stupidly busy Christmas period as I hope you have, or at least a very happy one, and are working out the first pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.

If you’re one of those first pieces, it helps us and your fellow performers hugely if you let us know your intentions as soon as possible after receiving your offer. That said, please don’t accept unless you’re absolutely sure you will be taking the slot. Thanks 🙂

I often try to aim higher, thinking about this quote from one of my favorite poets:

Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,

Or what’s a heaven for?

Robert Browning

I  believe that if Robert Browning were alive today, he would aim higher and more obviously include all people in that quote.

I did aim higher yesterday to capture more photos from Disney World for you:

Some people might think it’s goofy to aim higher. Do you?

Somebody aimed higher and got this  unusual video of Rock ‘n” Roller Coaster with the lights on …

… and somebody else aimed higher to bring us the complete and more typical Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster  experience:

I’m going to end this “Aim Higher” post by aiming for higher gratitude for all who helped me create it and for all who are reading it, here and now, and also by aiming to see you again tomorrow!

  1. What a wonderful ride you are having in the warm, Ann. And the still-on-the-list email from Fringe is good news, too!

  2. Pawsome pics as always. Yes, aim high and kiss the sky! LOL!(。ˇ ⊖ˇ)♡

  3. Hi Ann, it looks really unbusy at Disneyworld – which is great. The lines must be short for rides?! How do those plastic soldier men walk with those things on their feet. I would think that would be very similar to walking with oversized Birkenstocks on! Glad you are having a fabulous time!!

    • It’s still busy, SD. We’re getting into rides quickly because of Fast Passes. The new hot ride at Disney, where you ride a banshee in the land of Pandora, has a two and a half hour wait!! I was aiming to try to get on that early this morning, but several us came down with food poisoning last night, so now I’m just aiming to feel better very soon.

  4. Janis Moulton

I’m enjoying living vicariously through you. LOVE Disney!

  5. There is so much to aim for here, but mainly I want to compliment Aaron on that most excellent shirt.

    • I want to compliment you on your observation techniques, Chris, and also suggest that you check out today’s post which shows an incredible aiming-high shirt that Aaron made!

  6. Looks like you are having a WONDERFUL time! 🙂

  7. I can’t aim too high I am scared of open heights just saying
Yeah it does look like you had a great time

  8. That roller coaster picture is priceless. And I am enchanted by the idea of life-sized tinker toys…

  9. What great fun!
