In the entire history of this blog, I’ve never used the word “historic” in a title. Does that automatically make this post historic?
Let’s check the definition:
his·tor·ic
/hiˈstôrik
adjectivefamous or important in history, or potentially so.
“we are standing on a historic site”
synonyms: significant, notable, important, momentous, consequential, memorable, newsworthy, unforgettable, remarkable
Perhaps.
Here’s the historic inspiration for today’s post:
When you use the word “historic,” what do you mean?
Do you see anything historic in my other photos from yesterday?
Here’s “Domestic Violence Awareness” by Gremlin:
Thanks to all who helped me create this “historic” post and — of course! — to YOU.
Does this mean everything we did before today was prehistoric, Ann?
Thank you for that historically hysterical comment, Mark.
Wow, Ann! I just realized that maybe that photo you keep posting of the woman holding her fingers up in a peace sign, may not be the same photo all the time. Maybe the billboard underneath it is what you want us to focus on, not the smiling woman. Maybe the billboard (or marquee?) says something different in your various photos. I have often looked at that photo and tried to figure out why you like it so much. I figured it was because she seems very happy, and also she’s really, really big. But — maybe from your perspective, she just happens to be hovering above the thing you are photographing and she’s not really there for you in the same way she is for me, at all.
This must be historic insight into our different perspectives (and my general cluelessness). Hope you have a good day!
Never in history have I experienced you as clueless, Maureen. Thanks for making my days better! ❤
Memorable masks that reflect the history of our time. The smiling one with bands and words of pain really touched me! So many people go around with happy masks hiding their pain. This is a historic post Ann ❤️
You touch me, Val. Many thanks. ❤
You’re welcome.
Generally this post made me think what the hell, just so you know
Just so you know, Joanne, I’m often thinking what the hell.
I live in a Dodger household, Ann, but it made it easier for me to recognize clear defeat of the home team, envisioning that you were celebrating. 🙂
You are historically kind and thoughtful, Debra.
I love Mia Solvern’s poem!
I loved those poems too. Thanks, Maureen, for another historic comment.
