Day 1832: I don’t want to

I don’t want to

  • go outside when it’s “historically” cold,
  • move my left arm,
  • cook,
  • clean,
  • over-eat,
  • over-commit,
  • waste time,
  • watch the news,
  • check my mail,
  • worry about the future,
  • dwell on the past,
  • offend people,
  • get hurt,
  • squelch feelings,
  • read,
  • do much of anything, or
  • complain (too late!)

I do want to

  • blog and
  • share my photos from yesterday.

No offense, but do cats — modern or otherwise — really need a lifestyle magazine?

I don’t want to be judgmental, but people who say “No Offense” are often offensive.

I don’t want to listen to music, but I will anyway.

I don’t want to set the world on fire, but we could all use a little warmth.

I don’t want to end this post without expressing my sincere thanks to the Ink Spots, to everyone else who helped me write this post, and — of course! — to YOU.

  1. Marcia Dubreuil

What’s happening with your left arm?

    • The doctors think I pulled a muscle. But because I’m a lefty, because the muscle is right near my Implantable Cardiac Device, and because it hurts when I turn the steering wheel, put on a winter coat, push a door open, etc., it’s driving me nuts.

      • Marcia Dubreuil

Darn! Old disco injury acting up again, eh? So sorry. Rest, gentle movement, ice (haha), rest, gentle movement…The getting your coat on thing is so exasperating. My solution is to just keep my coat on all the time. Don’t laugh–it’s an option for those of us too proud to ask for help!

      • Thanks for helping, Marcia!

  2. Be good to that arm, please.

  3. Good news is you are relieved from snow shoveling duty. Are you enjoying the cool breeze off the water?

  4. hope your arm is 100% soon – and never heard the ink spots song – what a voice.

  5. I’m with you on that whole ‘don’t want to’ list, except for ‘read’ – I always want to read!

  6. Sometimes I think we’ve lost something by not hibernating. There are times when it’s bitterly cold that all I want to do is burrow under blankets and sleep. And then there are times, like when the moonlight makes the frost sparkle, that I find the cold invigorating. With the weather I don’t know what I want.
I do know, however, that I’m worried about your arm and I hope it gets better soon.

  7. Thank you to Marcia for asking the question about your arm that I wanted to ask. I hope your arm feels better soon, Ann.

I read this post on my phone with a small screen, so I accidentally read your entire list as things you want to do, rather than don’t want to. I was intrigued that you wanted to move (just) your left arm, offend people, go out in the cold and overeat. Wow, Ann is turning over a new leaf! I thought. I was sure you were going to tell us some therapeutic benefits to all of this, and I was gearing up to overeat and offend people, too. 🙂

Have a good, not over-committed, right-armed weekend, Ann..

    • I love the idea of you gearing up to overeat and offend people, Maureen. Thank you for inoffensively improving my weekend, as usual.

  8. I don’t want Grumpy thoughts!!!

  9. Wow, it looks cold there. I don’t want to go out either. Ugh. When I do, I wrap my face up like a mummy. I hope your arm gets better soon. Also, since you aren’t worried about swelling, I’d suggest a little heat on it. Maybe a nice soak in the tub with some epsom salts…

    • I don’t want to wrap myself up like a mummy and go out until the weather warms up a little bit, Lisa. It’s considerably colder now than it was when I was writing this post. Ugh is right! Thanks for the nice warmth of your comment.

  10. I want you to take care of Ann…. wow that’s a lot of snow, our Mother Earth is a fascinating planet, its was 110’F here yesterday, and today it’s 70’F,… it’s a strange world…

  11. I do want your arm to be well soon

  12. A lifestyle magazine? You must be kitten me. Anyway, I don’t need it cos I’m an alley cat.(=^・ェ・^=)

  13. Just started playing this just now and my husband actually muted Rachel Maddow to listen! Thanks!
