This is the first appearance of “Common Sense” here at The Year(s) of Living Non-Judgmentally, as I approach the fifth anniversary of this daily blog.
It’s about time for common sense here and elsewhere, don’t you think?
Here are some uncommon quotes about common sense:
Common sense is not so common. — Voltaire
Common Sense is that which judges the things given to it by other senses. — Leonardo Da Vinci
I read, I study, I examine, I listen, I think, and out of all that I try to form an idea into which I put as much common sense as I can. — Marquis de Lafayette
Society is always taken by surprise at any new example of common sense. — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Common sense is the most fairly distributed thing in the world, for each one thinks he is so well-endowed with it that even those who are hardest to satisfy in all other matters are not in the habit of desiring more of it than they already have. — René Descartes
Philosophy is common sense with big words. — James Madison
Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age 18. — Albert Einstein
Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense. — Gertrude Stein
It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office. — H. L. Mencken
Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing. — Clive James
There is nothing more uncommon than common sense. — Frank Lloyd Wright
Do you seen any common (or uncommon) sense in my photos from yesterday?
Was it common sense for me to invite people in a therapy group last night to express what makes them cry and what makes them laugh? I didn’t have the common sense to photograph more things on my list of what makes me laugh.
Here‘s “Common Sense” by John Prine:
Common sense dictates that I thank all who helped me create this “Common Sense” post and you — of course! — for all your common and uncommon sense.
Humor as common sense, dancing. Perfect.
Perfect comment, as usual.
It is a darn shame, Ann, that common sense appears to be more and more uncommon.
Thanks for your uncommon wisdom, Mark.
I am often saddened bu the decrease in common sense. It is a basic function people try to outwit. Which, of course, is the problem.
Your common sense is uncommonly consistent, Colleen.
❤ Best compliment you could give me Ann. 🙂
It is common sense to start my day here where I feel welcome, nurtured and nourished by your common sense, and photos and humour and wisdom!
Your common sense makes me uncommonly happy, Louise.
Speaking of forgiveness, there an. Article in the latest Tricycle Magazine saying that the concept of forgiveness is not a Buddhist doctrine. Here’s the link: https://tricycle.org/magazine/forgiveness-not-buddhist/ It feels a bit jarring to one once steeped in Christianity.
Thanks for sharing that uncommon article, Sunny. It’s uncommonly good to see you here.
CommOn, Sense! You need to make a comeback! ☆*~゚⌒(‘-‘*)⌒゚~*☆
Uncommonly clever!
₍₍ ( ๑॔˃̶◡ ˂̶๑॓)◞♡
Can’t wait to see how you celebrate 5 years!
Thanks for your uncommon loyalty to this blog, Alex.
A co-worker told me her husband, a professional drummer, regularly plays snooker. Since I don’t know of any places in Nashville that have a snooker table I asked her where he went. She said, “John Prine’s house,” as though it were the most common thing in the world, because to her it was.
The funny thing about common sense is that, depending on your perspective, it may not be so common after all.
It’s uncommon how commonly you share a valuable perspective, Chris.
I agree that often common sense is not so common Ann. Have a good weekend!
I appreciate your good sense, Lisa!
Nice to hear John Prine again. Your uncommon sense made you choose him.
You are uncommonly nice, Lisa!
Jackie sometimes wonders how someone she considers so intelligent lacks common sense. I’m not saying who.
That’s common sense for you not to admit it, Derrick.
🙂
I love Einstein’s perspective. We are all doomed 🙃
I am doomed to love your common sense, Val.
Now that is one uncommonly good reply Ann 💕
