Day 1744: What scares you?

What scares you?

The news?

The weather?

The future?

The present?

Other people?

Information overload?

Physical pain?

Emotional pain?

Trying new things?

The phone?

Public speaking?

Any of these photos?

A search of “What Scares You?” on YouTube returns this:

Scary movies scare me, so I won’t watch any more of that.

When something scares you, what do you do?

Name it?

Share it?

Feel free to share what scares you, below.

Thanks to all who helped me create today’s post and to you — of course! — no matter what scares you.

  1. Heights. Just two films: Psycho in my teens, and The Woman in Black a couple of years ago

  2. Horror movies scare me so I make sure I do not watch them. Watching hubby self-harm with substances and food scare me because one day “catch up” will occur. Not knowing if I am attending to all my cats 100% correctly scares me and many times I wake up with questions on my mind about one or more of them. I’m scared that one day I will be left high and dry with hubby’s messes. I’m scared that my dreams won’t happen and the “family and friends” I “see” won’t manifest. So many fears … yet with each and every one of them, I face them head on and do what I can to break those fears. And with those that are out of my hands, I step into my Shoes of Faith. I’ll just give you one tiny example of how I address those fears. I’m calling hubby’s counselor before he goes to his appointment today to fill him in with the TRUTH regarding matters because hubby lies, glosses over, or manipulates the Truth. Counselor knows this about him so when I do call (not often) he knows hubby’s behavior has been bad and really needs to be addressed in such a manner during the appointment that hubby doesn’t know I called. Between counselor and myself, we do a delicate dance to get this man to own up to his behaviors. *sigh* Did you get all that? 😌

  3. Deep water, Ann. And I’m not much of a fan of scary movies anymore, either.

  4. Ann, Your first photo today, “Pain Management”, is what scares me, especially in my future years to come.

  5. Heights, hatred, the suffering of loved ones, most politicians…always comforting to come here though, Ann. ♡

  6. A few years ago I went to see a horror film in the theater. There are some horror films I enjoy and seeing them in the theater is usually better than watching them at home, where I tend to watch them alone and late at night and end up asking, “Why do I do this to myself?” As the end credits rolled everyone else left, but I stayed in my seat to see if there would be any post-credit surprises.
While I sat there I felt a presence. I felt I was not alone and I thought I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I was already on edge from the movie and was getting more and more scared.
Then the credits finished, the lights came up, and there was a woman in the corner who’d left with everyone else then came back to see if there would be any post-credit surprises.
Should I be scared that I enjoyed that extra little scare?

  7. I don’t do scary movies, ever since The Exorcist. Even the trailers scare me a bit. The worst are the ones that deal with believable horror, abuse of any kind.

    • I agree with Van. I used to handle the old Hammer Horrors and anything with bad acting under the guise of Horror, but when I saw To The Devil a Daughter, things changed. I hate to see animals hurt, yet ripping off heads and the like in the Underworld series of movies is enjoyable entertainment for both of us.
As to what scares me, spiders and losing the ones I love.

    • I don’t do scary movies either, ever since I watched “The Sixth Sense” and “The Blair Witch Project” during one weekend and didn’t sleep well for weeks afterwards. Thanks for sharing what scares you!

  8. Heights. Snakes, especially when they slither out in front of me. 😳
Don’t want to take it any more😉

  9. I am really scared if open heights and when faced with them I freeze and find it hard to move or think, I am also scared of snakes but don’t see them so that is ok

  10. The only thing that truly scares me, aside from falling from a great height, is something terrible happening to my son. The anxiety from that is awful. Otherwise, I’m fine with snakes, spiders, mice, and most other things.
