Day 1733: I don’t know what to do.

Last night, in a therapy group, somebody kept saying, “I don’t know what to do.”

I suggested that people write down “I don’t know what to do” and then express thoughts and feelings about that.

I wrote a poem titled “I don’t know what to do” but I didn’t take a picture of it, so now I don’t know what to do.

I know what to do. I’ll show you the photos I did take yesterday.

That’s my friend and co-worker Megan, who is leaving soon. I don’t know what to do without her.

Here are some things to do when you don’t know what to do.

  • Speak up.

  • Find your purpose.
  • Listen to music.

  • Express gratitude for all you have and all who support you, every day.

  1. Great pictures,

I like the last one most.I love that word.We should use it more often 🙂

    Thank you

  2. I’ve been half way through a poem, for few days, and “I don’t know what to do” to finish it off

  3. Oh my goodness – I know exactly what to do! I must share that White Stripes version of I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself with the choir I sing with. This is one of our popular songs and I think they would love to hear this version. Thank you fir sharing it – I love the quirkiness!

  4. Please keep sharing whatever you do, Ann. It’s always full of fun and intrigue.

  5. Lots of times I don’t know what to do. It’s not such a big deal now that I’m retired. When I don’t know what to do now I just take a nap. Seems to work out for me.

  6. I’m learning to let go of what I think i need to do about a lot of stuff. Sometimes I just need to let some things work out the way they will, Ann. ♡

  7. Sometimes the most fun I’ve had in my life was when I didn’t know what to do. Ever tried improv comedy? It’s really fun and creative!

  8. My favourite question behind the question (QBQ) for that one is… if you did know what would you do? 🙂

  9. I don’t know how to respond other than to say I love your blog!

  10. I’m sorry you didn’t save your own poem, but here’s another:

Sometimes when you don’t know what to do
It’s because you have too many choices.
It’s very difficult to sort through
    All their individual voices.
But if you listen to the views
    Of each one by itself
You can sort out which ones to choose
And which ones to put back on the shelf.

  11. I say that phrase near daily. Sometimes the solution comes, but letting go when you don’t have an answer is tough.

  12. Thank you. Now I know what to do

  13. I love eclecticism and this is the most interesting (and most times fun!) place to find it! Finding connections between disparate things opens the mind, helps sharpen how one deals with uppercase L “Life”, eh?! Or, if nothing else, broadens one’s appreciation for how deep and broad life’s experiences can be.

  14. Listening to music … or rolling out my yoga mat is what I do when I dont know what to do. Unless there is a furry animal around or an open armed partner…. then I know that what I have to do is give them a hug. Hugs to you Ann 💕
