Day 1676: The gate to happiness

Tea is one of my gates to happiness. Yesterday’s teabag told me the gate to happiness is …

… self-compassion.

My gates to happiness also include:

  • significant relationships,
  • therapy groups, and
  • observing what’s around me.

A gate to happiness for me and Oscar would be a child-proof gate for those deck stairs going down to the street.

What are your gates to happiness?

Another gate to happiness, for me, is singing songs I love. I plan to sing along to Pat Metheny playing “A Lot of Livin’ To Do” tomorrow night at an Open Mic.

I’ll let you know on Saturday whether I made it out of the starting gate.

Happy thanks to all who helped me create this Gate-to-Happiness post and to you — of course! — for entering this blogging gate today.

  1. Who tied that blue ribbon round Oscar’s leg? 🙂

  2. Oh golly gosh Ann, gate to happiness, you’ve got me thinking……… hmmm……. The happiest thing for me would be to travel to America and Canada, I’ve dear cousins on dads side of the family in Philadelphia, and especially one dearest niece “Kerri”. And then in Canada, I’ve three gorgeous cousins to visit, from my mothers side, two in Vancouver and then especially “Maureen” in Alberta…… Oh now I’ve tears in my eyes….. my dream shall come true…… xx

  3. Your blog is a clear gate to happiness for me since it opens up to such a wide and interesting world. Good luck on Saturday.

  4. It makes me happy to see the froggy orchestra with their exuberant conductor!

  5. Love your home Ann! ♡

  6. Tea wisdom is good wisdom. The tag on the teabag currently in my cup says “I am beautiful. I am bountiful. I am blissful.”

  7. The gate to singing is a portal to pure happiness! Good luck Ann! Sing Out Loud!

  8. A cat-proof gate would be even better, Ann, so Oscar could go outside, get in more livin’ and stop singing the blues.

  9. Sometimes it’s hard to hold the gate to happiness open. But I try my damnedest. I’m sure you’ll have no problem keeping the gate on your voice open Saturday night. Good luck!

    • The Open Mic is tonight and I woke up today with a sore throat, so the gate to singing might be closed. I will try my damnedest. Thanks for the luck!

  10. Love thi

  11. One of the gates to happiness is seeing your photos and tea bag wisdom each day Ann!

  12. So lovely. One of my gates to happiness is my door into home.

  13. I have a petty iron gate that I open to drive into my driveway. When I pull up and come into my backyard I shake the world off for a while…so I think perhaps that really is my gate to happiness! 🙂 Very cool song for open mic night. Have fun!
