Day 1498: It’s not over until it’s over

I’m still not over the New England Patriots’ unprecedented come-back win last night in the  Super Bowl, which reminded me of a lesson I’ve learned over and over again:

It’s not over until it’s over.

It’s not over until it’s over, despite experts saying “It’s never been done before” and quoting numbers demonstrating the extreme improbability of the task.

Earlier in the day, I  was reminded of that lesson over and over again when I drove over to Boston and walked over to Chinatown to see an old friend who finally  became a father when he was over 60 years old.  As we talked over the past, we discussed how I had my first and only child when I was well over 40. The opportunity of becoming a parent was not over for me at that advanced age, despite my having a congenital heart condition.

My posts aren’t over until I show how I’ve recently snapped photos, over and over.

Sundays aren’t over until my boyfriend and my son, who is over in Edinburgh, cook a meal together by communicating over the phone. Last night, they both cooked a super bowl of soup which we ate while watching the Super Bowl.

My blog posts aren’t over until I share music  …

… and express gratitude, over and over.

  1. In the pic with they lady at the table – what is she doing with all those green worms ?

  2. Congratulations from a lifelong Jets fan. Over and out, Ann.

  3. Soccer World Cup 1966:

  4. I don’t care one whit about Super Bowl. But I enjoyed the photos, especially the one protesting the Muslim ban and the wall.
Our lawmakers don’t seem to understand that there IS a wall. It is two blocks from my house. Not one but two! Well, a fourteen-foot wall and a ten foot fence. I hate it. It is ugly and cuts me off from friends in Mexico. It ripped through our town and destroyed what was once one large, friendly community.

  5. I love to hear about good things not being over until they are over. Your life has provided some wonderful examples of that.

    The soup looks delicious, too.

  6. I fell asleep after halftime and was totally surprised this morning.

  7. Congrats on your team’s big win! A NY Giants fan, I had no favorite in this Super Bowl, but since he who shall not be named has all sorts of ties to the Pats, I admit I was rooting for the Falcons. This political nightmare won’t be over until its over!

  8. Yogi Berra may not have really said “It’s not over ’til it’s over” since he claims “I didn’t say all that stuff I said” but it’s the thought that counts since, as Oscar Wilde said, “To make your internet comments sound smart attribute them to a famous person.”
It really isn’t over until it’s over.

  9. And I almost crashed at halftime. Amazing ending…congrats to Pats fans !

  10. Tell Ann it’s not over until it’s over

  11. Nope not over till its over as some wise person said

  12. Congratulations on the Patriots win. What a game. I’d have been okay with either winning. Looks like you had a nice dinner!

  13. Nice post as usual, Ann 🙂

  15. Great post, Ann – great thoughts, great photos and great music. Glad to hear your team won and I hope your son is loving being in Edinburgh.
You have so much going on over there at the moment – all the protests and so on. All very understandable from where I’m standing. It’s not an easy time for you all, and the rest of the world is waiting and watching with baited breath. (Can I fit, ‘It’s not over until it’s over’ into that thought?)

  16. I was surprised by the ending of the game but ah well, it’s just a game!
