Day 1407: Enough

As if other people aren’t asking you enough questions these days, I have another one for you:

Do you ever feel like saying “Enough”?

This morning, when I woke up sore from my third surgical procedure in 45 days, facing one more day before the U.S. Presidential election, adjusting to another time change, looking at more than enough new emails in my inbox, having enough things to take care of today, not having enough energy on stairs, and recently receiving this mailing from the Mayo Clinic …

… I said to myself, “Enough!”

If, at this point, you don’t have enough information about what I’ve been going through lately,  you could read some of my recent blog posts. But, honestly, I don’t know if you have enough time to do that.

Now, I know  I have enough things to be grateful for in my life, but sometimes I wonder whether we give ourselves enough time to just stop and say, “Enough!”

Have I written enough to make my point?

Because this post isn’t random enough, I want to tell you that I recently told my boyfriend Michael (who is more than enough for me) that if I ran for President of the United States, I thought this would be enough of a platform to get me elected:

  1.  Enough with the time/clock changes! We’re going to pick one and stay with it!
  2. Enough with advertising holidays before we’ve gone through the most recent one! For example, no Thanksgiving advertising until after Halloween, and no Christmas advertising until after Thanksgiving!

Do you think that platform would be enough to get me elected?  If not, I have more than enough other ideas (including ENOUGH WITH THE UNASKED-FOR UPDATES TO SOFTWARE FOR OUR DEVICES!)

Let’s see whether I have enough new photos on my iPhone (which, by the way, has a cracked screen because it’s taken enough abuse from me):

Do you think there are enough cat photos on the internet?  And if I haven’t given you enough information about the photos above, Michael conducted another cooking lesson with my son Aaron (who’s far enough away in Edinburgh) via phone last night, making enough delicious vegetarian chili for us.

There’s enough music on YouTube, including these two songs (here and here):

I certainly spent enough time dancing to that first song in discos, decades ago.

As if this all weren’t enough, WordPress is having trouble saving this post. Will I have enough time to publish it successfully before I have to leave for cardiac rehab?

If you have enough to say about this “Enough!” post, I hope you know enough to comment, below.

And, yes, I do have enough gratitude for all those who helped me create today’s blog post and to you — of course! — for having enough time and energy to visit here, today.

  1. Enough with the time change (extra hour sleep ?? not so much) and those premature holiday promotions. I’m with you on both, Ann. ☺

Hope you get a “enough already” from your medical professionals soon. ❤️

  2. I so agree with you on time change! The one thing Arizona does right is NOT participate in that. And there is already Christmas music in some stores. Please! I will be tired of it in a week.

  3. Sally Remick Colacicco

You are such a trouper!! I agree, enough is enough, but I am so glad you can vent with a smile in your voice!

  4. Gene Phillips

The reasons for my “enoughs” seem petty compared to yours, having mostly to do with yet more emailed demands for reports of endless variety from the university administration. Actually, it is more often “grrrr…” or “really?”. And yes, there are a gracious plenty cat pictures on the internet, but I can easily skim past them, so I feel no need to complain about something that gives such pleasure to others.

  5. Agree on the holiday advertising – enough already! Maybe if they had to shell out a matching amount to charity for every cent of ad revenue they spend they’d be more thoughtful about it. Sigh. Feel better Ann.

  6. Lets dance!! Enough is enough is enough Ann 💛

  7. Hi Ann, I read about that problem of infection in the newspaper around the time of your surgery and hoped you would not be affected. You have certainly had enough in the way of troubles and worries.

How are the online cooking lessons? Is Aaron coming home for Christmas?

I saw Christmas decorations going up on local streets and a couple of private homes this weekend, bit àt least in Canada for we are one month past Thanksgiving.

Good luck with the election. A local theatre, the Rio, has invited Vancouverites to come and watch the election results, complete with popcorn and costumes. But many people are worried.

    • Popcorn and costumes? What a great idea. We should do that here in the States!

    • The online cooking classes are going well. Aaron is coming home for Christmas.

I’ve already told several people about your local theater and they all thought it was a great idea!

Thanks for the good luck with the election and I am hoping that your good luck wishes are enough to fix everything here! ❤

  8. I don’t think I could ever have enough Chocolate Moose Dragons. They sound wonderful. I think. Never have enough cat pictures either. I hope you have enough surgeries now to last a very long time. And I think the whole country is saying ENOUGH and will be relieved on Wednesday.

  9. Ann for President!!!!

  10. Recently I was forced to “upgrade” to Windows 10 at work. It’s made me both frustrated and guilty about repeatedly yelling “This is so stupid!” Compared to what you’re going through it’s a minor concern but I also wonder if there will ever be a point when I’m joined by enough people saying “Enough is enough!” that Microsoft, Apple, and other tech companies will stop forcing unnecessary changes on us every few years.
Until then the collaborations of Streisand and Summer or the Eli Young Band will have to suffice. Or perhaps that other duet of Richard Simmons and Buckwheat.

  11. Enough enough enough
    You’ve had it rough
    Good thing you’re tough.
    But enough is enough.

  12. These things are sent to try us…..less than 1% is not high.

  13. yeoldefoole

I don’t thing there’s nearly enough pictures of chili on the internet!

  14. yeoldefoole

    Enough!

Child rape and racketeering? Lock him up!
Crowned proxy for the wealthy? Lock her up!
    Wanted posters – cut-rate campaign pin-ups?
Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!

    Investigations, anyone? Enough
to go around! No shortage here, enough
to sink a candidate, were that enough
this time around! Enough! Enough! Enough!

    ~

  15. Amanda Curtin

Enough of election commentary…but never enough reconciliation and healing energy for our country. What a letter to receive from the Mayo Clinic 😦 Enough of that! I can’t wait for you to know there’s been enough medical stuff! Time for health and happiness!

  16. I would vote for you on the no advertising until the most recent holiday is over, alone.

I would write you in if I hadn’t already voted.

And personally, I have had enough on your behalf!!!!!

  17. Tonight is my night.

  18. enough is enough is enough dear Ann. Sending healing and positive thoughts your way my friend- there can never be enough of those ❤

  19. I’d vote for THAT platform!

  21. Enough! Enough medical tsouris for you! And enough election agita for us all! And enough stress from preparing to drive 1380 miles south tomorrow with our cat and lots of stuff packed into the car. 🌴🙀
May we all be peaceful, happy and light in body and spirit
May we all be safe and free from injury
May we be free from anger, afflictions, fear and anxiety
May we learn to look at ourselves with the eyes of understanding and love
May we be able to recognize and touch the seeds of happiness in ourselves
May we learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving and delusion in ourselves
May we know how to nourish the seeds of joy in ourselves every day
May we be able to live fresh, solid and free
May we be free from attachment and aversion, but not be indifferent.
Metta to you, Michael, Aaron, and all of us who enjoy your blog every day.
    ❤️🌞 Sunny

  22. You have more reason than most to feel ‘enough’, but I think many have shared the feeling – I know I have
