Day 1402: Yikes!

I knew that “Yikes!” would be today’s post title when I looked at my favorite watch yesterday.

Here are just some of my reasons for saying “Yikes!” right now:

  • I have to go in to Boston for more surgery today, exactly six weeks after my open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
  • The reason I need today’s surgery is that my Implantable Cardiac Device, which I received in May 2015, caused two deaths because of early battery depletion.
  • I had to stop eating and drinking last night at midnight, and I am  not reporting for surgery until 11:30 AM.
  • The weather is going to be unseasonably warm and beautiful today, but I will be otherwise occupied.
  • The United States presidential election, less than a week away.
  • The Chicago Cubs might win the World Series tonight.
  • If I feel up to it, I hope to sing at an Open Mic Friday night.
  • Because of its latest update, my iPhone no longer recognizes my thumbprint but has lots of new features which I haven’t had time to learn.

Speaking of my “improved” iPhone, here are all the other photos I took yesterday.  Do any of them make you go “Yikes!”?

Yikes!  The words “warming” and “naturally” in that last photo, above,  are reminding me of my first therapy session since my open heart surgery.  Yesterday, my therapist George and I came up with a soothing ritual to help me prepare for today’s surgery —  to place both my hands over my heart, to warm and naturally soothe my still painful chest cavity.

What is making you say “Yikes!” today, in your world?

Yikes!  If I actually am able to sing at an Open Mic night in two days, will I remember all these lyrics?

Yikes!  Joni Mitchell sounds great there.

Yikes!  Look at the time!  I have to get ready for my surgery.

Yikes!  I get so cranky when I can’t eat or drink when I want to!

Yikes!  I hope you leave a comment.

Yikes! I almost forgot to thank all those who helped me create this post and you — of course! — for visiting, here and now.

    Diana xo

  2. Positive juju aimed your way Ann, for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

  3. Hope all goes well for you.

  4. Wishing you a great recovery and fingers crossed for the game.

  5. I hope all goes well with your surgery and that you do recover in time to sing on Friday!

Double yikes to “The United States presidential election, less than a week away”. Maybe triple Yikes!!!

Looking at the pictures reminds me. In the 1970s and 80s my mom used to get Psychology Today. Back then every other add was for booze. Even at that tender age I always thought that was the most ironic thing in the world. A big “Yikes” there too!

  6. Just breathe, Ann. It will all be okay. ❤️

  7. Yikes! Hope the day goes well and sets you up for lots more fabulous days ahead. I thought my day was stressful. Just back from the dentist who gave me 14 injections prior to a rather lengthy procedure. It was planned to be an extraction but, having consulted with her colleagues, she is trying desperately to save this one.

    Hugs, and best wishes.

  8. Go Ann! Go Cubs! Go Hillary! Go Lakota Bakery! Go Chef Michael!

  9. Linda

    Ann,
All the best to you for your day surgery. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Linda

  10. Yikes! Your surgery is today. I hope it goes well and you have a quick recovery and are able to eat again soon. And I’m hoping for a Cubs win tonight. The last time they won the World Series Mark Twain was still alive.
We could use the likes of him again.

    • Yikes! The Cubs are winning as I’m writing this, Chris, and I’m eating peanut M & Ms. If I weren’t so tired and in some pain from the surgery, I’d be working on making “never the twain shall meet” somehow relevant in this comment. Yikes! I’m always glad to see the likes of you here.

  11. Hope all goes well. The first picture is good enough for a “Yikes”

  12. Amputated arm through a white picket fence?
    Yikes!
    More surgery?
    Yikes!
    Heal fast.

  13. Yikes for sure! Be well today, Ann. Thinking of you.

  14. Yikes! More surgery. We all hope it goes well. Better then well. Stupendous even.

  15. Yikes! Today’s the day! I like that you had a heartwarming therapy session. That will also help take the yikes! Out of fasting. Be brave and look forward to breaking your fast.

    • Yikes! I broke my fast soon after my surgery with fresh fruit, yogurt, a muffin, and water. Yikes! It all tasted great! Thank you for this heartwarming comment. ❤

  16. Those landscape images blow me away Ann, you’re a great photographer.

  17. Yikes! Lots of pics today! Gotta hold us over until you are done with surgery. Then look out world — Yikes! Ann is back!

  18. Maria Talbott

    Good luck, Ann!

  20. Good luck and get well soon!!

  21. Good luck Ann. I’m thinking only positive thoughts today.

  22. Yikes! Another surgery? Oh how awful! Loved your pics and now am thinking of going iPhone when it is time for my new one. Which one do you now have, Ann? And how I wish you all yikes luck with your surgery! I say yikes enough all ready!! ❤ ❤ ❤

    • Yikes! I’m not sure which phone I have, Amy! Isn’t that ridiculous? My excuse is that it’s so soon after my surgery. Yikes, it’s great to see you here! ❤

  23. Amanda Curtin

Yikes. I am so sorry you have to have another surgery. I will send you some reiki. I love the ritual you and your therapist came up with. Sending you love!

  24. Love the pics!

  25. Yeah I was here, just so you know, I liked the photos, just so you know, I have to go out know, just so you know well not right now mum isn’t here right now and she is picking me up unless she forgets which I hope she doesn’t just saying.

  26. Ann, I hope your surgery went well today. What an amazing thought, that you may sing at an open mic in a couple of days. I wonder if I put my hands on my heart, Luke George suggested you do, that I can grow your kind of courage?

  27. Yikes that house with the shadow of the tree is scary. I do hope by now you are at home resting- and feeling ok. ❤ ❤

  28. I just saw that you are home and ok. Yay!

  29. Yikes! I just read this on Thursday, Ann, and hope all is going well. 🌴😎 We first time snowbirds are preoccupied with getting ready to head south next week and I’ve missed reading a lot of emails. Keep us posted! And get well fast. ❤️❤️❤️
