Day 1389: Within Reach

Here are some things that are within reach for me, as I write today’s post.

  1. My laptop.
  2. The end of the 2016 U.S. presidential contest.
  3. Halloween.
  4. My getting the go-ahead to drive again, as my sternum heals from my September 21st open heart surgery.
  5. My returning to (and probably exceeding) my exercise “baseline” through cardiac rehab.
  6. Determining my weekly dose of Coumadin/Warfarin, an anticoagulant I now need because of my new mechanical heart valve.
  7. The replacement of my recalled St. Jude Medical Β ICD (Implantable Cardiac Device) on November 2.
  8. My seeing Mel Brooks in person for the first time, two days from now.
  9. My next teeth cleaning, in five days.
  10. My return to work as an individual and group psychotherapist, probably during election week.

All day, yesterday, I took photos of things that were within reach of my iPhone camera:

Here‘s a tune whose title was within reach in one of my photos, above:

What’s within reach for you, here and now?

The end of this post is within reach, as I thank all those who helped me create it and all those who are reading it today, including you!

  1. it sounds like you are on the cusp of many good things in your life and i love that you have so many things to look forward to. i’m looking ahead to halloween – the parades with my kinders, trick-or-treating with my grandies, and making caramel apples. i look on to the cooler days, the colors of the trees, and a look ahead to a beautiful winter –

  2. Ah! Those socks. I feel I could reach out and touch them πŸ™‚

  3. Nice to read, that you have some goals to look forward to, Ann πŸ™‚
Wish you all good luck πŸ™‚

  4. Smiling is right there in reach with this post. πŸ™‚

  5. It’s always good to have a fresh baked goods and coffee truck within reach Ann! and such a cute watch πŸ™‚

  6. I especially enjoyed the image of screaming calories! LOL! As always, Ann, your blog is a hoot! I look forward to it, I devour it.

  7. The amazing thing about the internet is how much it puts within reach. Ideas, pictures–cool socks!–but most importantly it puts people who are separated by vast distances within reach. It allows us to connect and stay connected.
It’s a change Darwin didn’t foresee but the fact that so many of us have adapted to it so well gives me hope for our future survival.

  8. Marcia Dubreuil

Mel Brooks?? MEL BROOKS?? For me, and I’m sure for you, that would be like seeing a beloved family member. So great. And what would Mel say about your so-soon, quick-fix pacemaker replacement date? Let’s see: 11/02/16–sounds like something an idiot would have on his luggage!

  9. Lots of comforting and yummy things within reach. I’m so glad Ann!

  10. The screaming calories meme is hysterical. So true.

Thank you for the blast from the past. I haven’t heard this song in years.

  11. I see you have your own cardiac rehab team over there within reach, and that’s great.

  12. Delightful photos!

  13. I hope you are doing well now after your open heart surgery! πŸ™‚ Going back to back should be fun πŸ™‚ Loved all the pictures, your blog is so fun and inspiring πŸ˜€
Wishing you all the best, take care πŸ˜€
