Here’s the first photo I took yesterday at the Mayo Clinic, a center for the spirit of people like me who need life-extending, life-improving, and life-saving heart operations:
Do any of my other photos from yesterday provide a center for the spirit?
All new directions converge at this center for the spirit, as I prepare myself for a cardiac catherization today and open heart surgery tomorrow. Since blogging daily at WordPress has been a center for my spirit since January 1, 2013, I’ve made sure that another center for my spirit — my boyfriend Michael — will center himself in front of my laptop to give updates to my readers after my surgery.
Art and music are both centers for my spirit. Here‘s some music I hope can be a center for your spirit, from a CD I made sure to bring with me to the Mayo Clinic:
What are centers for your spirit?
Spirit-centering thanks to all who helped me create this post and to you — of course! — for centering my spirit with your visit, here and now.
I go for the stained glass
I go for your comments, Derrick.
A place of healing. It’s easy to see why they are ranked #1 in the country. Love the rainbow stained glass, Dr. Mayo’s quote…all of it. 💕
I love all that you bring here, Van. ❤ ❤
Love all the pictures fom the Mayo! It is the best place for you to be. All the stars are aligned for success.

I love your comment, Barbara, and I agree with you! ❤
Tears gathered in my eyes as I went through this post, Ann. Prayers are with you today and tomorrow and for a speedy recovery. This clinic is beautiful and I easily can see why it is number 1 in the world. Thank you for creating this post, dear friend. It gives me my hope back in medicine. Much Love, Amy ❤ ❤ ❤
Much love back at you, my kind and caring friend.
The spirit of your photos is a reflection of the spirit of those who had the vision to create such a place of healing grace and possibility.
May grace and possibility carry you into the next few days and weeks and hold you always in love and care. ❤
Thanks for bringing your spiritual center here, Louise. ❤
Stunning place. Glad you have Pat along.
Peggy! The surgeon loves Pat and is going to play his tunes during my open heart surgery!
My spirit was touched by these beautiful images and words Ann. I sense you are really in the right place and are being held fondly. Sending healing light and lightness of spirit your way 💕
You are a center for the spirit, Val. I hold you fondly with light and lightness.
Mmmmm…. Coconut cake with chocolate sauce….. But that is not a center of my spirit. Like yours, my spirit has multiple centers. I am glad you have so many.
I’m so glad you centered your spirit here today, Gene!
Centers for my spirit are gardens with flowers, for someone like you.
Gardens are such a great center for your spirit, Maria! ❤
I did not expect the Mayo clinic to be so uplifting and spiritual. It is like it reaches into you with humanity and compassion, before any knives are considered. Agam’s art is luminous.
We will welcome Michael with love as well as appreciation. All the photos of the meals he has cooked for you have left an impression and made him feel very much a part of the blog, all along.
You are going through this journey as a patient surrounded by love, surrounded by the most gifted helpers, and you are powerful this time around because you have chosen your team and are making your decisions. They are carrying you where you want to go, to health. I am thinking of you with protective love.
Your comments reach into me with humanity and compassion, Maureen. I feel surrounded by love. ❤
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful art and good vibes, Ann. Thinking of you (from Pittsburgh) and sending xxoo. #1 in the Nation sounds like the best place to be.
It is the best place to be, Ruth, and your thoughts and love make it even better. ❤
Hanging onto a dolphin and swimming would center my spirit. You have taken some lovely photos. Good eye. Take it easy and center yourself. You are strong. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for helping to center me! ❤
It’s reassuring that a place that emphasizes healing the body has so much for the mind and spirit too, but what’s really reassuring is the doctors there realize body, mind, and spirit are inseparable, although if I said Sum ergo sum I might be in danger of putting Descartes before the horse.
They tell some pretty good jokes here, too, Chris. Here’s one I heard from the guy who pushed me in a wheelchair after my procedure today:
How many Green Bay Packer fans does it take to change a light bulb?
Seven. One to change the light bulb and six to talk about how much better the last one was.
Really a beautiful post Ann and I just loved the coloring book with the cat 🙂
Wish you all the best, it looks like the perfect clinic to go for, very uplifting for the spirit. Hope for a speedy recovery and send you healing thoughts and light your way.
Your healing thoughts light my way and center my spirit, Irene. ❤
Wish you all the best Ann ❤
God bless the surgeon, guide his skilled hands, and keep everyone centered in peace and assurance tomorrow as your heart is touched by healing hands. ❤
This touches me in my spiritual center, Colleen. ❤

Hi Ann,
I am so glad I came by your post today so I can hold you and your medical team and support system in the light. The Mayo Clinic seems like a remarkable place and I trust you will make a full and complete recovery. I began blogging right after you on Jan 11, 2013 and WordPress is my digital family too.
Blessings for a seamless, flawless surgery tomorrow.
Sending love and Spirit, Linda ❤
Thank you for this beautiful, centering comment, Linda. ❤ ❤ ❤
Such a lot of beautiful art in this place. The stained glass and the Chihuly glass shapes (or looks like him) would do quite a bit for me. I will think of you and wait to hear good news. Blessings!
That is Chilhuly’s beautiful work. Thank you so much for your beautiful blessings.
So many beautiful photos- and a wonderful sky filled with clouds and blue. Thinking of you ❤
Your wonderful and beautiful thoughts center my spirit, Lisa. ❤
Hi Ann, I recall writing my comment last night but since I don’t see it here, i must have forgotten to push “post comment”! I too was struck by the beautiful art surrounding you and everyone working and being treated in the amazing Mayo Clinic. I love the Chihuly chandeliers and the “welcoming” piece and the story behind it. Keeping you in calming, comforting thoughts today.
Thank you for your beautiful thoughts, Sunny. They always help! ❤
My center: All good things come from God. I’m awed by the beauty you find in little things. I want to learn to do that better. May you be blessed and those involved in your care. A special blessing on your son, so far away, and yet I’m sure is with you in his heart.
Thank you, Judy. ❤ ❤ ❤
Love this beautiful place that you have shared with us. So glad Michael is with you and I already know, since I read this after today’s post, that you are OKAY! Love you ad infinitum and cherish your spirit, body, heart and mind.
Back at you, Carol! ❤
