Day 580: Not there yet

“Not there yet” just popped into my head, as the title for today’s post.

Next thought, there:  Are We There Yet? is yet  another tune I adore, by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.

(That YouTube video is there yet)

I am not there yet, regarding:

  •  my new and breezy snooze-atron/Sandman “Sam”/CPAP machine.  In other words, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure is just not there yet, while I’m sleeping.  I may need a different mask.
  • my capacity to whole-heartedly accept and believe compliments (and other positives) and to not fear envy (and other perceived dangers). Yet, there’s obvious progress there.
  • the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. My son and I are leaving on a jet plane for Scotland, in mid-August.
  • my ability to respond back to people — here and elsewhere — quickly and perfectly. I’m not there yet and I never will be.

I may not be there yet, regarding all those things (and more), but …

I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

And I’m glad I’m there, because many I love are there, too.

Here are  some photos from where I was, yesterday:

Are we there yet?

Thanks to all, no matter where you are.

  1. I wonder if being there, finally, would mean the end of our journey (in this life). Whatever the case, I like the process of getting (the journey) more than finally being there (the destination) because with smaller goals like planning a tropical trip, once you’re there, it’s almost over and then what? 🙂

    • I agree with you, Diana. I find it really helpful to focus on the process of the journey rather than the destination. That helps keep me in the moment, my favorite place to be! And your being here improves the moment, too.

  2. Thank you, Ann. I really enjoyed this music. Very different from what I am used to. Ya never know what you are missing out until you dip in and see! Hope your Sunday is a good one!!! Love, Amy

  3. Where ever you are, there is brilliance.

  4. I am grateful for the “I’m here” time you devote to writing this bog b

  5. Miranda Stone

I love this post. And how awesome that you recognize you’re right where you’re supposed to be.

  6. What a cool message. Happy Sunday 🙂

  7. Lovely post and photos. Thank you.

  8. One time when I was lost in college, Ann, I was lost in the state of North Carolina, in a car with two fellow University of Maryland students. These soccer players were from New Jersey, I the college newspaper reporter from Long Island, and we got separated from the caravan of state cars traveling from the University of North Carolina, in Chapel Hill, going back to College Park. No map in the glove complartment, pre cell phone and GPS days, these guys thought the best thing was to stop when they saw anybody on the side of the road, roll down the window, and ask, in full-blown Jersey: WHERE ARE WE AT? The looks we go in response! Somehow we found the route, our way, the caravan, College Park. Thank you for reminding me of this story from 1978, when we were Not There Yet, with today’s post. We will get there and speak the same language with Breezy Sam CPAP yet, my friend.

P.S. Diana asked me to tell you that she is reading your posts, but for some reason WP won’t let her post comments on your blog the last few days.

    • I was there with you, Mark, as you told this great story. And I’ve already been there to WordPress Help, asking about Diana’s problem commenting here. I am glad you got un-lost and I hope we can find a way for Diana’s lost responses to turn up here, again. You are both keepers, to me.

      • Thanks for following along on my long-winded college days tale, in Jersey-ese, yet, and for starting a course to get Diana back to commenting on your blog, too. Have a great Sunday night, my friend.

  9. LOVE the tune Ann. LOVE it.

And I’m so jealous that you are going to Scotland. I’ve never been. Enjoy!

    • I am so glad you love that tune, David. And I’m sure you will love Scotland, too, even though you’re not there yet.

  10. Love the rabbits, who are so happily oblivious of any protests.

  11. Funny how we hone in on the things that grab our attention!
So you are going to the Festival … how cool is that! I hope you will check out the Fringe and the “off the wall” humor and art. Lots of photo opportunities too!
Please don’t mind I’ve glossed over the rest of your post.
You are going to my homeland!!!!! I’m so excited for you.
The city is crazy at this time – full of tourists and peeps from all over the world!
Trust me as a Scot, and according to my Yank Red Sox fan hubby ” Its better than the Red Sox “:)
    Val x

    • I do trust you, Val, of course. And I’ve been to the Fringe Festival and Edinburgh twice before (last time was just a year ago). I’m so excited I am returning to your homeland!

Too bad you won’t be there. It would be so great to meet you. That’s what I’m honing in on, right now.

  12. I’m here 🙂
Happy Monday – Happy New Week!

  13. Bunnies! And, apparently they are protesting the building of a bike lane on the rail track. Is that because they worry that their tender grass gardens will be replaced by asphalt?

    • As usual, you are a wonderful guesser. I think those signs ARE an expression of worry and fear about future changes.

  14. The mask is everything with a CPAP !

That is a wonderful piece of music !!!!! 🙂

    • Yeah, I’ve got to call the CPAP peeps and make progress towards a good-enough mask.

And, yeah, I pretty much think that piece of music is perfect. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!.

  15. Are the masks custom-made? Is it difficult to lie on your side or front if you’re wearing one?

  16. Sandman “Sam” YAY!!! I love it : ) It’s like I won the lottery or something hahahahahahaha
